I would have given this a higher score if it weren't for the $3 per person booking fee that they charge.
We paid $42 (2A + 2C) for a site which only gave us access to toilets and cold showers (equivalent to what we would pay $18 for at a DOC site). However, we LOVED swimming in the lake. It was gorgeous.

Well equipped kitchen, good clean facilities.
A bit of a walk to the toilets from the camping area but it is all relative I guess. The owner was friendly.

The owner gave us the impression that we were an inconvenience to her.
The kitchen for campers was very small so you needed to negotiate with other campers for space. It had a lovely view and we probably would have enjoyed staying here if the owner had have been a bit nicer to us.

It was a long walk to the toilets and kitchen, and some of the kitchen appliances were broken but the sites were nice and flat and you are right on the edge of the ocean.
We had to boil drinking water there. The staff were lovely.

Fantastic staff.
We loved exploring the nearby sand dunes.
It was a long walk to the showers and kitchen but overall was a good campground.

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at this camping ground - it had a kitchen, power, flat sites and hot showers!
And there was a beautiful bush walk to go on right next to our tent. The only down side was it was raining which meant we weren't able to see any kiwi.

It had flat sites which was good, you had to pay for the showers (which is fair enough since the surrounding community use them too), the sea had a muddy bottom, the kitchen was tiny so you had to wait
in line to use the sinks. There was plenty of fridge space. It served its purpose (somewhere to stay for the night) but it was nothing particularly exciting)

Would stay here again, but the kitchen was VERY busy and when we were there we had to wait for a table to free up to eat at as the dining room was used more as a lounge.
It was raining so it might not be so busy on a dry day but I have heard it rains a lot there.

We were very happy they squeezed us in when they were rather full.
The beach was beautiful. I only gave this a lowish score because lots of the sites seemed to be on a slope which can't be very pleasant for campers. And the water wasn't drinkable where we were so we had to go quite a long way to get some.

We loved our stay here.
I think maybe the staff had changed since the other reviewers stayed. The facilities were clean and the (male) receptionist was extremely helpful. Our kids loved interacting with the animals. There were lots of people staying there and everyone seemed pretty happy.

Sheltered sites.
Clean modern toilets and shower facilities. There is no proper kitchen - just a microwave and jug in the laundry. There may have been a toaster too. The staff were awesome. There was also wifi in the laundry which was a nice warm place to sit. And we got it outside too.

Sites are spacious but in the peak of summer there are a LOT of people staying there so it still feels crowded.
The beach is lovely. There was a bit of an unpleasant smell near some toilets but overall it was great.
