Probably the best site we have been to in 3 weeks of travel north and south.
But internet is not free..

We chose this place because of the mostly good reviews and the relative closeness to the city center.
Well, in the end we walked all the way to cathedral square and took a taxi back. We found that it would have been quite easy to find parking for our camper van downtown.
The holiday park itself ? Sorry, we cannot share the euphoria about this place, rather the expression "sardine can " comes to mind... Be wary if he assigns you a space in the center round-about, its really very tight, we had two tents about 1 m from our door and at night I almost fell over their ropes.
Thankyou for your feedback.
At this time of year it is really busy & more so due to the earthquake in 2011 ,two holidayparks have closed or reduced capacity in Christchurch.
We advertise that we are 4 km from the city centre & we have a regular bus route from outside the gate.

I usually filter the best and the worst of the reviews, so we decided to spend a night at this place....
The reception by the owner was very friendly and we were given detailed directions to the penguin observation areas, which are a short drive away. The beach is just across the road.
The kitchen and lounge (very impressive view) are nice and a good meeting place.
Travelling in a camper van, I noted the following:
There are 4 or 5 places with electricity and the walk to the facilities becomes long if it is cold outside (as it is today).
Even looking around, I could not find a dump station and there seems to be only one water point, which requires along hose. The free WiFi obviously only works in the facility building, not on the sites.
For all this, you pay 40 dollars, in cash, she does not accept credit cards (a first after 2 weeks travel)
