Very busy campsite.
Nice view to the ocean, but a little bit noisy as it was right beside the road.

Thumbs Up.!

Awesome walk.
You can go on the cliff or down by the beach at low tide. Also to see the seals in the afternoon sun. Simply breath-taking.

We rented a 2 Berth Campervan from and to Christchurch.
We were served by Carolin during both handovers. Her introduction to the campervan was very good and all questions were answered to our full delight. Beside that she gave us helpful tips for our journey around the South Island. She even took care of our "shell" package which she sent back to our home in Germany. Beside that, the van was simply awesome in respect to driving performance, interior, facilities and sleeping space. Single negative point was the smell from the aircon which occassionally reminded us of the toilet...
But in general we definitely can recommend the KEA campervan!

Actually we were not sure, if we stayed in the right place as no signs for a freedom camping spot could be seen.
But just leave the Highway 67 in the corner and drive all the way to the beach. The last short part is gravel. It is a simple dead end street with space for not more than 3 or 4 vans. We stayed there the night for our own. The scenery and atmosphere right at the beach was really breathtaking.
