The Sand & Surf park also run by Ohope Beach Holiday Park also has site flooding issues that need to be addressed.
After the heavy downpours and high winds our site flooded ankle deep in water wetting everything. With two girls under 4 we were forced to take refuge in our vehicles till the storm subsided. Everything got completely soaked. No one from management showed any concern or came to our assistance when we contacted reception staff. This site and several others regularly flood and are not suitable for tenting, we later discover has had a caravan on the site for last 7 years. When we advised management about the flooded site, their response was basically weather event out of out control its in the terms and conditions and asked when we would be off the site. Overall we found the park overcrowded, the people to be very clique’. The showers we tried all only ran cold water, even when the timer was wound to hot setting, it appears many of the showers hot water timers are broken, the showers also poorly drained result in water right the door as such get changed with wet feet. The kitchen area was small and cramped. The toilets were OK but only one hot air hand drier for about 8-12 cubicles and were dirty the hand cleaner was just a foam cleaner dispenser not real soap. Overall a poor experience will not be recommending to others or a return visit. We complained to management and basically received a response that suggested it was all our fault and that we were ill prepared for camping... If your planning on tenting there, do your homework on the site they sell you and check it doesn't flood in heavy rain.
