Good place to stay on Christmas Eve.
Owner got us a large pitch. Modern shower and toilet block at entrance and extra toilets around the site. Close to the beach but long walk to the boulders!
Only one warm water washing machine did cause a queue for it.
Recommend if you stay on this part of the coast.

We had Christmas Day here following a lunchtime checking.
I felt guilty at using he phone to call but they were fine and cheery. I wanted to BBQ lunch. There is no BBQ area but they lend you portable units - fantastic.
Large pitch with waste water disposal and water on the powered site.
Facilities block immaculate although the shower mixer tap was temperamental. The only small fault I found.
Would highly recommend.

Nice clean site.
Good location with nice brew pub opposite.
Loses marks for quite tight pitches and high price as no competition in village.

Ok there is a reason for the mixed reviews of this site.
There are two sites. The powered and unpowered are separate. Even though we ideally would have liked power we were advised to take unpowered.
Great choice. Fantastic location and great modern facilities. That's why you have different reviews here.
Our favourite site so far.

We liked this site.
Good facilities. Clean friendly and not near the railway track like the top 10. Plan to stay here again next week.

I really liked this site.
Yes it was a busy place and not so much space but everything was very easy.
Angled parking space for campers. all drive in.
Long water hoses at the pitch
Plenty of toilets and showers
Novel drive over grid and open the waste water valve dump station. Novel poo tank drop off too.
Location close enough to town for convenience. Far enough not to be disturbed by the revellers.
- highest price paid here.
Mixed feelings about queenstown itself...

I guess people stay here before or after the Hasst pass which is currently closed overnight (dec 13).
Pass also got blocked after heavy overnight rain. Didn't reopen till 3pm but site owner let us keep our pitch until then at no charge so great customer ethos.
Hasst River is not somewhere I would want to be stuck for long I'm afraid but stunning places on the Hasst pass not far from this good base.
Site is small no pool etc but clean and well equipped. Hanger facilities a bit different!

Friendly welcome from the owner.
Lovely site as other reviewers have said. Facilities modern and immaculate but would be queuing for showers and toilets I think if park were full. Highly recommended - well worth the extra half hour drive from Arthur's pass.

If you want ultra modern facilities then give this one a miss.
If you want a great beach and wildlife with very private pitches and low cost then go for it.
Just don't slag it off for being what it is. It doesn't claim otherwise. Fairly basic close to nature camping.

Just a basic parking space for two or three and couple of picnic tables.
A look out is for the spiral of railway track which is best seen when an elusive train passes through. No facilities seen in settlement nearby.

Friendly enough.
Facilities clean but look a little tired. Hopefully they will get modernised. Out of main town. It that suited us. Small thermal pools were dated but ok.
Hello, thank you for your feedback.
Your feed back helps us understand where we can improve costumer satisfaction. We are currently working on upgrading the hot pools and Cabins.
hopefully by Christmas next year our upgrades will be finished.
Thank you once again for your valued comments and for choosing Rotorua Thermal Holiday park as your place of stay.

Seems to be lot already written.
All I can say is the location is city centre so it has the pros and cons others have listed. If you don't like the fact that it going to be a busy spot then stay somewhere else.
Friendly staff let us check out late for pm ferry. Price for a city centre we thought fair and cheaper than top tens we had stayed at.
You can book ahead via its web site.
Note NO dump station.

We had a great family time here.
Freedom camping with only facilities being long drop toilet and a rubbish bin.
Had the site to ourselves overnight with hard standing car park with about 12 car sized spaces.
Highlight was the walk down to the falls and swimming pools at the bottom for the brave and rope swing high jump into the water for the really brave.
Be warned many steps back up to the parking gained the path the name heart attack hill on the way back but not a problem for the youngsters.

Really liked this park.
Good large riverside pitch and modern clean facilities typical of top 10 parks. Downside was thus was most expensive site at 76 dollars for the family of four but would stay again!
