Nice view as we parked right on the waters edge.
Saw dolphins and seals in the morning (around 7am). Beautiful sunrise over the water.
Facilities are very basic, just toilets on site, but we did make use of the showers at the main site 1km away. Which were ok.
Lots of long standing caravans and residents so it did feel a little like we were invading their space. But the views and waking up to dolphins and seals made worth it for sure!

The site was ok, facilities all there and clean enough.
The 'hot springs' were a huge let down.
There are 3 pools, however one is actually a chlorinated swimming pool (full of kids having lessons) and the other 2 were not as hot as stated, and the pools themselves are very slimy. Didn't stay in long at all and felt like I needed a good scrub to clean the grime off me once I got out.

Nice quite site, very close to paihia.
Big kitchen area, with basics. All clean and working.
Friendly cats on site who like to wander over to say hello.
$16 pp for park view $18 pp for waterfront site (all with power)

Best thing about this site is how close it is to the tours.
We did a kayak and walking tour through the site which was fantastic.
The pick up point of the water taxis is literally at the opening to the site.
The site itself is basic, but has hot showers (paid extra for!) and clean toilets. (I think the previous review maybe for the wrong site - no pit toilets here!)

Great Kiwi site, cheap wifi $5 for the day or $25 a week.
Really clean, lovely toilets & showers. The flowers and music playing is a nice touch.
The kitchen was also clean and has lots there to use.
Not the prettiest of sites, just a basic campervan park. Also the planes landing at the near by airport are very low and very loud, first one woke me up around 6.30am.
But seriously can not fault the facilities. Best I've seen in NZ.

Lovely little location on the water front.
Beautiful sunset!!
Only space for 4 vans, and must be self-contained - warden came round to check late at night.
Musical public toilet was amusing and clean, other reviews mention it closing, we didn't notice this, it was still open around 9.30pm and at 7am the next morning.

Simple little site with nice picnic area and BBQs beside the lake and small play ground for kids.
Toilets flush, but the block could do with a bit of an update. It probably was clean, but didn't feel it because it was run down.
As mention previously, no sulphur smell which is always a bonus in Rotorua

Small site, a bit of road noise but great location if your catching ferry.
Facilities ok, toilets clean, showers hot.

Nice location, with clean facilities.
Free wifi is very poor, took a very long time to load simple sites and cut off repeatedly. With no other paid options available I think I'd rather go to another site with IAC and pay the $5 for wifi if you need/want internet.

There was a lot of rain before (and during) our stay so the lake had risen and parts of the site were flooded.
So it didn't look great.
The site is right on the road, so can get noisy, especially with the lorries hurtling past (100km speed limit road).
The long drop was horrific, VERY full, not sure if this was something to do with the water levels, but it was not good.
It was ok for the night, and I'm sure on a sunnier day with the lake back to normal, and the long drop sorted it would be better.

The front of this site is a large gravel area right next to the road - not great, but if you keep driving through, passed the toilet there are a few spots by the river which have no road noise at all and
are extremely peaceful.
Long drop isn't great, but I've seen worse.

Lake Gunn is glorious from this campsite, especially in the mornings.
Makes this site worth it!
There is not much room on this site and it filled up quick.
There is a small amount of space in the 'car park' type space as you drive in, however we went down onto the lakes edge and found a spot between the trees.
We ended up surrounded by campervans by the morning.
So not really suitable for large vans, no turning spot either.
Long drop toilet was clean, but a bit smelly - it's a busy site!!!
Lots of sand flies so don't leave your doors open for a second cos they'll get in, and fast.
Close to milford sound - but leave about 45mins - an hour to be safe. The satnav will tell you 25mins or so, but it definitely takes longer especially if your in a van that doesn't like hills.

Free camping spot right on the water.
This is just a car park, however there are flushing toilets on site. There are working docks right across the road so there is a bit of noise at night with lorries moving around, but not near the main road. Great as a stop off for the night.

Could not find this site.
There is nothing in the near by area which allows camping. All along the canal 'no overnight stay' signs are present.

Quirky themed Top 10 site, a bit pricier than I'd like to have paid, but then all Top 10s are expensive.
The site was clean and there is a lovely little outdoor cooking and dining area. Helpful tour desk for bookings.

Small site, but with very friendly owners and very clean facilities.
The toilets and showers were lovely, and hot! Quick walk into the town, the fox glacier guilding office and pick up is literally across the road if you are planning on seeing the glacier with them. Also there's a short glow worm walk just 10mins from the site.
