Great little camp ground.
I liked that it was small with camp sites on grass. Kitchen and bathroom facilities were clean and quite acceptable. Close to town. There was a cricket game going on in the field next door which was a treat coming from Canada where it is almost never played.
There was a caretaker staying in a little caravan and he
was quite helpful.

This campground was clean and right by the ocean.
There were strong winds while we were there hence strong surf which was wonderful. Showers were hot and timed for 5 minutes which was quite sufficient. I would have rated this site much higher except for the requirement that you have a key to enter the kitchen or washroom. This was quite inconvenient but I am sure the owners have their reasons for this arrangement. Perhaps break and enters have been common. There is a great ocean front walk from the camp that follows the coastline.

I have stayed here 3 times over the years and in spite of the camp being a bit old now it still remains one of my favorite places to stay.
The showers are hot and they provide little stools to sit on for dressing which was great. Always enjoyed the kitchen and meeting people from all over the world. Not sure what it is about this place but it just pleases me every time I stay there. One complaint- they need to fix the gas stoves. It was very difficult to start virtually every burner.

Very well kept campground.
Kitchen facilities the best I have seen. Washrooms clean and good showers with lots of hot water. Only complaint is that the kitchen was locked in the morning and we had to wait until someone woke up the owners to get the code for the door lock.

The campground is very basic.
Toilets were a good distance from our campsite. Showers were also very basic but did have hot water and were free. The gem of this campground is the adjacent Kauri forest which was amazing and awe inspiring. Payment is by the honor system.
