Very well set up camp right beside the lake.
Was only charged $40 for 2 adults and 1 child. Showers were $2 each. Suggest you book if you want a front site or during busy season. Sites were well set up for our campervan. Busy place but still had plenty of room. Nice new toilets and showers. Helpful staff with town map sheets. Can pay extra for wifi. Stayed one night, Oct 2013.

Good place to stop for free your campervan.
Was quite windy under the trees. Best if you just need a place to sleep, not very scenic. Good access though and we found a nice flat spot to park.

Brilliant place for a night of self contained freedom camping.
Really peaceful and so so beautiful! Defiantly stay here if you are heading to Mt Cook and you are self contained.

Most excellent camping spot.
We are halfway through our trip and don't expect to find better than this place. The owners obviously take great pride in their facilities. Lovely power sites surrounded with native plants. Water at each site. Undercover sites available too. Lovely views on all sides. Bathrooms and showers were top notch. More like a hotel crossed with a camp bathroom. Kitchen and lounge area was clean and comfortable with views.
Stayed in October 2013 and it wasn't busy at all. Bring your insect repellant though! Highly recommend this place.

Very disappointing camp.
We had to unexpectedly stay a night in Twizel due to a flat tyre on our camper van. We were tossing up whether to stay here or in Twizel camp ground. I should have listened to the previous reviews but thought it would be nice to be beside the lake because when I looked up their website it is called the Lake View Motels and holiday park. But there is no view of the lake from the camp. Instead the camp is full of old caravans, many set up permanently with make shift fences. The toilets and showers are old and cold, dirty and full of insects. The water was hot, that was the only positive. The feel of the camp is very feral and we did not enjoy our stay at all and left the next morning as soon as we could. The worst thing was they still charged $46 for 2 adults and 1 child. Would never stay here again.

Lovely holiday park.
Stayed on beach front powered campervan site. Clean bathrooms. Showers were free. View was lovely. Dump station was good. Cost was $46 for 2 adults and 1 child. Only 5 min drive from Kaikoura township. Would recommend. We were there end of September 2013 and it wasn't busy at all.

We broke the cardinal rule and tried to find this site in the dark.
We weren't sure where to stop and drove too far and ended up having to do an 8 point turn in our campervan to go back to find a spot to camp. Ended up right beside the ocean but also very close to the train track and got woken many times by trains during the night. Suggest you only park up during daylight hours. Was fine for a night of self contained freedom camping if you like trains ;)

Nice little spot 5 min walk from New Brighton beach.
Even though it has been affected by the earthquakes they have set up excellent temporary facilities. Nice hot free showers. Clean toilets. Free limited wifi. We were on a powered site in our campervan. Had hedges all around the sites so you were still fairly private from your neighbour. Cost $42 for 2 adults and 1 child. Stayed one night end of September 2013. Would recommend.
