First impressions were good when we arrived with the effort put in to their reception building, however it went downhill from there.
Pricey for what you get, and the reception staff were not aware of the special advertised on their website.
Bathroom facilities ok, however we were not impressed to find when we went to use the Laundry that 2 out of the 5 washing machines were out of order. After waiting around for one to become available, we then got caught out with 3 out of 5 dryers out of order. This is not good enough - nowhere has half of their machines break down at once, instead I had to waste my holiday time waiting for a free machines because park management are not on top of keeping their equipment maintained and in working order.

This was impressive and it is well worth stopping off to visit.
An easy walk from the carpark, and a great opportunity for photos. Best of all, there were no crowds - we only saw one other group of 4 that were leaving when we got there.

Although this place is a little bit out of Rotorua, this was a fantastic spot to stay.
Michael was incredibly helpful and friendly which was much appreciated.
It was clean, neat and well maintained, with a stream running right past our site, and kayaks and a dinghy available (sadly the weather wasn't on our side otherwise they would have been put to use.

Thankyou Wilderness, in particular Sofia, Flavia and Marcel for a great trip around the North Island.
The service we received was fast, efficient and friendly.
The Escape 4 motorhome was comfortable, easy to drive and had everything we needed.
I cannot recommend this business highly enough, and we will be back for sure in the future to explore the South Island.

If you are after a freedom camping location in a self contained van, this spot is absolutely perfect.
Despite getting there fairly late there was plenty of space - there were only 3 other vans a fair distance from us. There is also several wineries close by, as well as a small supermarket.
It is a pebble beach, however it was still a fantastic start to the day to wake up to the sound of the waves so close, with the sun coming up over the water.

4.0/5
This place was a great spot to stay, with friendly and helpful staff, neat and tidy sites (ours had a view over Lake Taupo which was an added bonus) and clean facilities although they were a bit dated
.
A bit on the pricey side, although the stay 2 pay 1 special on mitigated this.
You have to pay extra to use the mineral pools and waterpark, however as we were staying there we only paid $35 for family entry for 3 days, instead of the usual $20 adult/$ 10 child daily entry. This place was well worth visiting, soaking in the mineral pools was a perfect way to end a day of exploring the region.
