Nice and clean camp, friendly staff.
A lot of permanent camper. Kitchen with kettle, hearth and tv but without an oven, microwave and pots or cuttlery. Good and warm showers. Washing machine for 2 $.
You can't see the sea but it is nearby.
Price: 15 $ for one person, 28 $ for a couple (unpowered/tent site)

Great place, wonderful views and big camping area.
Modern toilets and a sink next to the toilet block for washing your dishes but no light in buildings except for a big lantern.
Price: 5 $ per site (winter), 10 $ per site (summer)

Managers very nice.
Big fully equipped kitchen and huge (maybe too big) eating area. Nice and hot showers, toilet facilities not the newest ones but totally okay. Washing machine and dryer (30 min) both 2 $. Main street between camp and beach side and you will definitely hear the traffic. Some short walks nearby and a beach where you can spend as much time as you want ;-)
Price: 12 $ pp (unpowered)

Camping area is close to a river but you can't see it from the sites.
Longdrops and showers could be better. There is a free BBQ but just 2 picnic tables.
Like everywhere on the coromandel you pay also for the location, but the camp isn't very special (you just see trees from your car). Nice, if you want to do some walks.
Price: 10 $ pp

Very nice camp, friendly staff and a beautiful location.
Toilets were okay (nothing special), kitchen is open but covered by a good roof and surrounded by big plastic layers like windows (sorry, can't explain it any better ;-) ). There are two fridges, heating plates and some power plugs to charge your devices in the kitchen area.
Its a very short walk (under 5 minutes) away from the beach but you can actually see it from the camp because it is on a little hill. The view is lovely.
Price: 18 $ for a couple (unpowered), 22 $ for a couple (powered)

Nice little spot right next to the river but also to the street.
A longdrop and untreated water. Surrounded by many mountains but not too dark. Good spot if you like fishing.
Price: 6 $ pp

A DoC campsite with some longdrops and an open cooking shelter with two sinks.
A pity that you can't see the near mountains from this site but you are close to a river. Good alternative to the expensive accomodation at visitor centre.
Price: 6 $ pp

This is really a "seaview" campground.
Not too old facilities (fully equipped kitchen), but you have to pay for a shower (50 ct/ 6min). Not much money but I don't like something like that if you pay already 14 $ pp (unpowered).

Nice manager couple, stayed here one night for free.
There are just toilets (without light in the night) and the water is non drinkable (grey water). There is also a power socket in the bathroom.

Nice, modern and clean camp.
Fully equipped kitchen and nice shower/toilet block. We had bad luck because there were three big groups when we stayed there.
Price: 15 $ pp unpowered

Wonderful campsite, great views, many toilets and some cold showers.
Only reason I wouldn't recommend it to everyone is the access road. You have to drive 21 km of a windy gravel road which will cost you at least 3/4 of an hour.
If you want to do the Coastal walk, take care that you take the right path which is very close to the far end of the bay. The other one is for mountainbikers and has 2 river crossings.
Price: 10 $ pp

A really nice freedom camping spot right next to the lagoon and you can see the sea from some spots!
There is a facility block with toilets and an area for changing your cloth (i guess) with some benches but if it is raining you can use this for cooking but no lights at all. Not sure if the water is drinkable.

Nice place but the kitchen just consists of a hot water boiler, a sink and a power socket.
Toilets and showers were clean. Price: 7,50 $ pp

A cheaper alternative to some parks in Hamilton.
A very big area and a nice manager. Big kitchen with hearth, microwave, fridge/freezer and water boiler but no pots/pans or cuttlery. Facilities not the newest ones but still okay, good hot showers. Could choose a spot in the huge area. Close to the street but not loud.
Price: 12 $ pp

Basic campground but good value for money.
Sheltered sink and water taps with a little light that stayed on over night, toilets not very clean but okay, good hot shower but a little bit gloomy.
Not far away from the sea but you can't see it from the camp.
Price: 4 $ (non powered) / 6 $ (powered) per site + 2 $ pp

First: We didn't stay there so I'm not sure if the second impression would be better.
An open kitchen with cooking plates a fridge and power plugs. Washing machine very (!) old. No drinking water. Toilets looked okay.
Whole camp looked more like a backyard where you can also stay with your van. Two or three very untidy buildings (one was the office) and empty caravans. Very close to the beach.
Price: 10 $ pp (unpowered)

Very nice spot!
Some longdrops but on one spot (Pine Flat or something like that) a clean and modern facility block with two outside sinks for the dishes, one toilet and 3 showers. Water at the sinks is hot/cold, the showers are cold (but with a 1 dollar token you get 3 minutes of hot water). Lights in the toilets/showers and over the sinks with a sensor. Very good value for money.
Price: 5 $ pp

Great place to stay, there were several other bigger campervans when we stayed there with our not-selfcontained van (but there is no sign that it is prohibited).
Public toilets with light but no power sockets. Get busy on saturdays (close to a rugby field). Make sure you park on the back parklot (end of the street and then to the left) where you have a nice view on the water and the little harbour.

You have to drive 600m from the picknick area to reach the camping spots.
Just a longdrop and untreated water. You will hear the trucks on the road but for me it wasn't too bad. There are some walks nearby but they were closed for lambing when we were there.

Nice place but very close to main street, manager couple both were very nice.
Fully equipped kitchen, they renovated the bathrooms when we were there, but the old ones were good too, washing machine and dryer 2 $, non-powered: 7,50 $ pp, power 10 $ pp
