Head north from Kaikoura and just after the seal colony lookout there is a carpark on the left.
Baby seals were playing in the stream the whole way along the walk in March. Absolutely fantastic experience!

Full of maps and brochures of the whole South Island.
Great having one central point of information as soon as you arrive.

We asked the lady about the local wineries with reds (less common up north than whites), and she pointed out three nearby that did lunch as well.
Very helpful and nice.

A simple roadside picnic stop, but it is free and has toilets.
Little bit of noise from the road but nothing too intrusive. Between Blenheim and Picton.

Park at Endeavour park, follow the Picton-Waikawa Track and it will meet the Snout Track on the left.
We went to the Queen Charlotte view and back in 80 minutes, but were walking fast. The views were breathtaking.

Wendekreisen had the best prices by far, without sacrificing quality.
The van may be older, but it runs well and everything is really clean. Couldn't be happier!

Drive towards Takaka, it is just past the caves.
It is a bumpy road to get there, but completely worth it! And do not go if your vehicle is wide! The scenery is out of this world. Did the return walk in 60mins, but one fast walkers.

Nice drive, but after walking the Snout Track in Picton it was not amazing.
Hard to look at the scenery when it is so windy, but there are great lookout stops.
