Small boats so less people onboard.
But be careful, they won't hesitate to lie to you about the weather forecast to fill a morning cruise, even if it is foggy and it is expected to clear up in the afternoon. The cruise is totally amazing if it is clear, but don't go if there is fog! You won't see half of the mountains!

Lots and lots of brochures/leaflets.
That is probably the best way to get information from there: the staff will answer your questions hastily and won't bother to smile at you. But maybe you will be more lucky!
South Island ▷ Queenstown Region ▷ Glenorchy ▷
4.5/5
If you do not feel like walking for several days in a row and taking a bus to go back to your starting point: start from Glenorchy, walk to Harris Saddle, climb Conical Hill and walk back.
25km, 8-9 hours walk but totally worth it: beautiful scenery.
South Island ▷ Marlborough ▷ Picton / Marlborough Sounds ▷
4.5/5
Absolutely beautiful!
This track is not very hard but it does go up and down a lot: you will get hot if you are doing it in the summer but what amazing views!! Don't waste money on water taxis, just drive to Cowshed Bay or Kenepuru Saddle and walk both ways!
South Island ▷ Mount Cook - MacKenzie ▷ Mount Cook ▷
3.5/5
Very good maps on the wall to locate the walks around.
The staff are very helpful. But the best part is the small museum below: go and have a look, it is very nice!!
North Island ▷ Northland ▷ Kerikeri ▷

Nearly impossible to find?
The explanations on the website were not clear, the location on google maps completely wrong and no signs for directions. Quite a long way from KeriKeri, on a gravel road. $7 instead of $6.
North Island ▷ Northland ▷ Kaitaia ▷
4.0/5
Just next to the beach, this is a beautiful place, the closest to Cape Reinga for camping.
There are even cold showers, and only $6 per night.

If you have got a body board so no need to rent a special sandboard.
Just go uphill on the sand, sit or lie on it and slide!!
South Island ▷ Wanaka Region ▷ Wanaka Township ▷
4.5/5
Discovering Wanaka from 15000 feet, first during a 20 minute flight, then freefalling during 60 seconds, and finally 4 or 5 minutes once the parachute is open.
You have plenty of time to see the lakes and mountains.
South Island ▷ Kaikoura Region ▷ Kaikoura ▷
4.5/5
Good organisation, nice staff, wonderful experience that I will remember all my life.
300 dolphins all around, so close you touch them (but you won't!). You can even go in the water with them.
South Island ▷ Fiordland ▷ Te Anau ▷
3.5/5
Very nice campground just next to the lake.
This is as close as you can get to Milford Sound for camping. It is also close to several good tracks. Be careful, there is heaps of space, but it is quickly full. Don't get there too late!

Beautiful beach with black sand.
If you go up the stairs you can watch a colony of gannets and some are pretty close! Watch them fly, eat, cuddle, fight..... that is very nice.

Very pleasant place by the river, nice people to welcome you
