If you have 2+ days to spend in the area, defnitely do the circuit as it includes the best parts of the crossing and has way less tourists on the rest of this beautiful walk.

Great but demanding hike/climb to the summit.
Great view from the top, however for me the best part was the climb itself which is very diverse.

The whole family was being so helpful.
They even went beyond top service and helped in personal matters as they could. Great family giving everything into their great business :-) The trip (Whanganui River Journey) was a great experience. Take your time and enjoy the paddling and beautiful landscape.
