I dont want to sound harsh but...
The camp was overpriced compared to others.
Some areas were closed (the more fun ones) and the pig in the childrens zoo area could do with a little more attention to his living area. On top of the camping cost, everything else seemed to have a cost added to it, even firewood for the nice fireplaces scattered around. There was only one other family there but it seemed very hard to get anyones attention at the office.
Im sure it is a fun place over summer....but we wont be going back.
Overpriced? We are below average tariffs according to a NZ wide 2011 HAPNZ tariff survey. Areas closed? The main flying foxes and waterslide are closed outside of the main season and a sign on the office counter states this quite clearly. There are still other flying foxes, swings, roundabouts, slides, BMX track, skatepark, confidence course with 16 activities... The pig's living area? We have had record rainfall and a pig with water equals MUD. Anyway, the pig has gone to hog heaven now so that problem is solved! Everything else had a cost added to it? The only extra cost here is for a shower, one dollar for a five minute shower. We have to charge for showers because parents just let their kids have endless showers and then there is no water for anyone else! Firewood is free for collection in an adjacent paddock if you want it. Very hard to get anyone's attention? We don't sit in the office all day just waiting for the chance to sell ice blocks to campers at this time of year; we actually have alot of work underway, continuing with a major upgrade. That's why there is a very simple to operate radio at the office that campers can call us on and we can be at the office in about 5 minutes.
Really, Shaynne Thompson visited Quinneys Bush four days before we close for the winter and is upset that all is not as she would like! Perhaps it is best that they don't come back. Look at Tripadviser for more realistic comments on what our guests think.

nothing was a hassle with these guys and i would recommend them to anyone.
we asked them to drop us off upon return to the antarctic centre after dropping our bags at the airport and none of it was a hassle. the campervans were exactly as promised but what makes a good company is the staff.
Thanks to Steve, Flavia and Tim.

absolutely beautiful with the mist rolling across the lake, what a view to wake up to.
If you dont like using long drop toilets, then dont go. i'm sure the doc staff keep them clean, but they cant be responsible for the state that some of the campers leave them in.
- note to other campers - please take your rubbish with you, this is too nice for us to ruin.

This was the best place we stayed at in our trip around the south island.
Our kids also loved it and didnt want to leave. The park is clean, beautiful and relaxing. The service was brilliant and Mike is the man that everyone tourist should have to greet them.
Will go back any chance we get.
Thank you for your lovely comments. We look forward to seeing you when you come back :)

Owners were very friendly and helpful, everything was clean and tidy and for our very brief stay, the price was one of the best we encountered, but it would probably be a little too boring for the kids

This place is adequate if you are on a budget, but i wouldnt stay long or with kids.
Pros - cheap, easy walk to town.
Cons - untidy and not very pretty. mens showers gathers water on the floor and needs campers to mop up. no where obvious to put rubbish so it was all dumped next to the main buildings and an outdoor eating area. C'mon guys, wouldnt take too much effort to make this place more appealing, but at the same time, good value for queenstown.

Loved the location and the isolation, had the place to ourselves and the little beach was so nice to explore.
My kids fell in love with the 2 seals on the beach but just be careful crossing the main road, some of those truckers really dont care about their speed.
However, the campsite was great - and handy to the Ohau waterfall with the seal pups, not to be missed!

If you like nature or seals - go here.
The waterfall walk itself is very nice but the seal pups playing in is awesome to see so close and then when we got to the waterfall itself... at least 40 pups swimming, playing, sleeping in the bushes. We even had some come up to us, walk over our feet, sniff our clothes and cameras. We were buzzing for days afterwards.
