A nice enough campsite, was empty when we visited in April.
If you camp down by the lake it's a bit of a hike to the toilets. Excellent Vodafone 3G reception.

Very pretty beach but we went at the wrong time of year for sealions apparently.
The gravel road gets very tight and narrow for the last 6 kilometres.

Lovely falls and a very pleasant walk.
The gravel road in is a bit nerve-racking in a large vehicle with some very steep corners towards the end. Toilets at the start of the walk.

Papatowai Campsite

Just off the main road behind the Shop and motels in Papatowai, a little hard to spot from the road.
Nice big facilities block with sinks, cold running water and pads for gas stoves. Outside there are picnic tables and a sheltered seating area. Clean toilets. Site has a couple of camper pads, otherwise mostly grass. $6 a night for adults, $3 for kids aged 5-17.
