Great spot.
We stayed their recently, out of season. The facilities were clean and functional. The lady at the office was warm and friendly.
We have a 6 yr old who absolutely loved the flying fox and play area.
I like photography, so loved the beach and area.
We would have liked to have stayed longer there.

Great site, clean and well laid out.
It is between the railway and road, so a little noisy at time, but the alternatives will have the same noise.
The bouncy cushion was a hit with our 6 year old.
The hosts were friendly and helpful, which is not always the way.
Hi Neil, thanks for your review - we are pleased that you were happy with our staffs performance, that's alway great to hear :)

Good location.
The weather was bad during our stay, so we didn't see it in it's true glory.
Facilities were fairly good. we had a site with a view which was nice.
There is not a lot in the way of camp grounds in Akaroa, so booking would be wise.

Great Experience.
Very professionally run.
Our whale watch tour was cancelled, but replaced by a wildlife trip.
We saw loads, and I mean loads, of Dolphins, some seals, albatrosses.
It is a little expensive, but you get what you pay for. Good quality.
Kia Ora Neil, glad to hear that you were still able to enjoy some of the amazing marine life we have off our coastline even though your whale watching tour was cancelled. Hope you got some great photos.

Good value for money option.
Nothing flash, but the facilities are clean.
It is a great place to stay if you're flying out of Christchurch. It's 10min drive to the airport, so close but not too close.
We had a big camper and it was only $32.

We had a great holiday.
We picked up a camper in Christchurch and went onto the Banks Peninsula and then up to Kaikoura.
The camper was great and straight forward to use.
The only bad points were when we had to meet the Apollo staff, apart from the African guys who drives the courtesy minibus, he should give the rest of the team lessons in how to make customers feel welcome.
We arrived at the depot at 10:20, four desks manned and when I approached a desk the manager told me to put my name of a clipboard, suggesting this is obvious.
One hour later, after others who arrived with us and didn't put their names on the list, we got called.
After spending time online booking ourselves in and providing all the details required, we started filling in the forms again. I was interested in taking excess reduction insurance, but instead of getting the basics we got very confused. We finally took the rental at 12:20, after two hours.
We had our van either vandalised or damaged during the hire, getting the rear light lense broken. This is not a major and it wasn't going to spoil our time. On return I told the staff member what was wrong. "So you drove into something" I was told. A bit rude really.
Why is it I can hire an expensive car from Budget and take 5-10 mins from handing over my licence to drive off. The only difference in the 10 min instruction chat we had in the camper.
Why can't we get the information on insurance online and make the decision whilst booking online.
Why, in this day and age, do Apollo still charge a Credit card surcharge. Get up to date.
I suggest a customer service lesson for the Christchurch staff. It shouldn't feel like we were getting a hard sell without the facts to consider in our own time.
I hope this helps them improve their business, as behind the front line staff, there is a great business that offers some great family holiday experiences.
Hi Neil - thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. We value the feedback from our guests regarding service and this will be passed on to our branch operations team to follow up. We take feedback regarding service very seriously and are always working on ways to continuously improve our service. If you would like to email us directly on customerserivce@apollocamper.com to supply your booking reference and any other details that we can use to help in following up.
I hope that despite this you had an amazing self-drive adventure.
Kind regards- Apollo Marketing Team

Not at all brown away with this experience.
The highlight was the Hagland ride.
We took a 6 year, who expected to see more Penguins. The storm was too noisy and scared her the 4D movie was not really suitable for under 10's, the screaming from all the kids was not a good experience.
It was OK, but the price didn't feel right. $160 for three of us ?

This is a must do in Wellington, especially if the weather isn't great.
We take the kids here when it's raining. We must have been there 30 times and still find something new.

This really is the best little zoo in the world.
There has been a huge investment here in recent years. The vet centre lets you view any surgical procedures they have on.
If you like talks, you can almost follow the experts round.

Nice spot, but make sure you don't get the water in your mouth, or nose.
It's full of bacteria.
Good for a soak though.
