We did the overnight cruise in Doubtful Sound and it was delightful.
The nature guide Carol was especially friendly and knowledgable.

Charming little place, but apparently the woman in charge is difficult to deal with.
There are signs everywhere yelling instructions about this and that.
Glad to see you only claim apparemtly i.e. someone has told you I am difficult to deal with because I don't remember having words with campers other than if they let their dogs roam unchecked, or overstay their checkout time by several hours, not unreasonable I would think Notices are almost entirely instructions on use of washing machines and dryers, and where to find wrappings for rubbish, or how to purchase laundry powder or wifi time, or events occurring in district. all of which are a service to campers

Jungly hike next to the river.
Great swimming holes. Really like the fact that most hikes in New Zealand are really well maintained and well marked.

Kind of expensive, but going up in the gondola gives you unbelievable views of Queenstown and The Remarkables.
Also did the Luge - what a thrill!

In between Lake Matheson and Gillespie Beach - over a bridge - a little plot for freedom camping.
You are surrounded by cows and the Southern Alps. The views of the sunset are spectacular.

Healthy walk around the lake with pristine views of Mt Cook and Mt Tasman.
The nearby cafe is superb.
