Pam (DOC) came and checked on us and chatted for a while.
She sent us to the main office in Renwick. Very nice lady. Quiet, spacious and clean. 14th Feb 2013.

Too many people and we felt that the $25PP charge for a 6km ride to the trail head was ridiculous.
Felt a little scammed.

The manager (Maureen) insisted in front of other customers that I make a donation because I charged my phone for five minutes (with permission).
I had already used and paid $2 for 15 minutes computer time. Donation by definition is voluntary. If this i-Site insists on donations, it would be nice if they re-worded their 'donation' box. This is the only i-Site with a donation box so far and we have visited approximately 10 with 18 days to go.

Totaranui to Wainui.
Stunning views and not too strenuous. Left our car at Wainui and paid $12pp to be taken to Totaranui with Golden Bay Coaches (prebook apparently). Informative and narrative driver. Worth the money. Mutton Cove has fresh water to rinse off after swimming!! (We did not know this!!). Don't have to pay the big bucks to do the entire Abel Tasman Track. Park at Wainui and tramp to Mutton Cove (2.5 hours). Stunning beach, shade, camping, a log swing, fresh water, loos and it is FREE! Wish the i-site had told us when we enquired about the walk. Would've swam!
