This campground houses a lot of seasonal workers and overcharges.
It is noisy +++ because right beside train tracks and locks you out of its facilities really early in the evening. Would not go back.

Take a frisbee to the Queenstown Botanic Gardens, they have a free frisbee gold course, we played there for the first time, had a hilariously good time.

Multiday bike through Central Otago landscape.
Free, but for $10/day they will drop your bags off at each campsite along the way. Do it in April for amazing autumnal colours.

Lots of good information on Otago Rail Trail, helpful staff.

A great walk to get a slice of Banks Peninsula scenery, views into all the major bays.
A good idea is to have one group start at Port Saddle, the other at the Summit Saddle and swap keys halfway for a great 1/2 day walk.

Pay to hire kayaks for 1/2 day.
Paddle through tranquil lagoons or go at night on the Kiwi spotting adventure. Saw my first kiwi in the wild!

Fantastic location by a beautiful bay.
Nice inland walk beside a river, and right next to a great coastal walking track. Basic facilities but in good condition. Toilets and cold showers.

This walk takes you along an old mining/railroad track along beautiful West Coast river to some pretty impressive waterfalls.
Great views, but not too strenuous.

Very clean and reasonably price campground.
Best of all there is a walk through farmland behind the campground to fantastic glowworm caves, nice activitiy at the end of the bay.

$50/night, but the best tramp I have ever done - astonishing and varied views, the huts in unique locations.
Be aware of difficult logistics as you start your tramp in Fiordland and end up near Glenorchy - not a circuit tramp.
