This was the 4th time that I have used Wenderkreisen, and that in itself should give you confidence in selecting this company for your camper-van.
Easy website to navigate, great video descriptions of the vans ( for 2 people, go for the walk-through wagon, it's superb ) and the vans themselves have always been well appointed, spotlessly clean and easy to use. The service at the depots, both upon arrival and also at the end of your trip is friendly, provides exactly the information needed by the users and best of all, puts you at ease after a long flight.
Looking forward to our 5th trip with this company.

I'm a DOC man, but Mrs M likes venues with washing machines!
I'm a DOC man, but Mrs M likes venues with washing machines!
When she suggested a site called Treasure Island I bristled with doubt.
How thoroughly wrong was I. Treasure Island is an absolute treasure, and one that should be on the itinerary of any camper-van user North of Auckland.
Venue - Stunning
Beaches - Stunning
Staff - Excellent
Cleanliness of kitchens and toilets - Impeccable
Facilities - Washing machines and driers, kitchen, showers and nice toilets.
General Feel - friendly, relaxed and nothing is an issue.
Would we visit again - without a doubt!

Shhhhshhhhh - Don't tell everyone.....
This Auckland Council site is similar to DOC sites, but does have flushing toilets, and is within a 90 minute drive of Auckland airport!
As a first site on a trip North, you'll not find much better. We Love It and always have our first night in a van here.

Bowentown beach holiday park.
Better location than Ohope as you have Anzac Bay on the other side and best of all, a lovely beach to the East of Anzac Bay that has 170+ steps to get down to, but worth every second. The site itself also has access to the Ocean beach. Pretty good facilities and good customer service

Everyone should see thermal pools, geysers, and steaming pools.
However, some are spread over vast distances and you end up walking miles to see each thing and wasting a full day. Wai-O-Tapu was recommended to me as it has everything within about a mile and a half walk. Get there early (before 10am) to view the geyser as she only blows once a day (Lady Grey as I recall). The only thing not directly on the complex is the mud-pools but those are an 800m drive away and best viewed afterwards, as they are spell-binding. Superb if you want to see these phenomenon's but not spend all day tramping around.
Pretty good facilities and good customer service

Otarawoa Bay.
Just North of Auckland (56 minutes per Google maps) is Pudding Island/Otarawoa Bay/Sullivans Bay. This was the first venue I visited in my camper-van and it blew me away. It only costs $5 to stay, hence the facilities are very basic with a drop toilet and just fresh water available, but by golly, what a beach. You can camp here for a day and it feels like you have relaxed for a week already.

Basic but beautiful and with very helpful owners.
Go to the local chip shop recommended by the staff and get the best fish and chips in the world. Blew me away.

Probably the best Motorhome siite in the world.
Excellent clean facilities, great location and best of all, really friendly staff.
Put it this way, on a 19 day tour of Northland, I stayed here for 3 nights.

Ohope Top 10 Holiday park.
Not bad but cross the road and go to the Chinese/Thai restaurant as that place is superb with seating overlooking the lagoon. Quite a big site and don't expect to be treated as an individual though.

DAR995 is a Mazda Hi-top van.
Perfect for 1 or 2 people. A great little engine, not an inch of space unused and my best friend for 19 days.
The only gripes were that the kettle provided didn't work and the anti-slip mat in the shower honked a bit, but other than these easily rectified points, Darleen was and is brilliant.
Put it this way, if I go back to NZ, I'd want her again.
