Staff not the friendliest we encountered.

Big campsite, but nice grounds.

Nice little free camping spot (and right over the road from a pricey one...couldn't believe there weren't more people here!
Ok pub just over the road doing decent food. Short walk down to the beach and 2 min drive to pancake rocks. Make sure you are self contained certified though...this is the only place we saw a doc ranger!

Close to beach, but huge campsite and had a bit of a prison-like atmosphere.
Check-in staff were also a bit abrupt

Odd little spot...looked like a "gypsy" park, but nice little place by the lake.
Not actually on lake Alexandrina, but lake macgregor, so were a bit confused looking for this spot..but it was late and very dark to be fair. For $5pp you can't complain. Short drive to st.johns observatory and tekapo

Good location close to town, but the most expensive site we stayed at over our whole trip.
Site was clean, but very cramped...bit of an impersonal feel to it, unlike many other places we stopped

A little busy with boats etc during the day, but pretty quiet at night and gorgeous sunsets. Great spot right on the lake just out of Taupo. Also has a clean toilet in the grounds.

Great location with a short walk along the river to the beach.
Close to cathedral cove too...bit pricey, but that is standard for all the main holiday parks
