Some free caving according to my travel mate, more exciting than the full day caving tour at Waitomo and a lot cheaper!!
You do get wet and need to climb a bit and need a good torch. Cave is over 500m long.

Not too hard and beautiful campsites. Wanted to do the Milford Track but this was a good alternative.
