Great couple there mowing the lawn, brought us wood to supplement what we had collected.
Toilets very clean, $5 total (2 persons). Water good to drink.

Very relaxing day, surprised at $1 for the locker (though one is big enough for two people to share) for two hours but actually two hours was probably enough.
2nd visit free (top10 discount) on same day, so did an evening visit too.

Top carpark a bit far from the sea, not what expected.
Lower carpark fab, clean toilets, great beach, glowworm walk. Lots of mosquitoes in toilets overnight. Locked in overnight to stop locals tearing around, so warden stays too.

Absolutely magical though we were unlucky as the sun was not out but actually made it more special when the sun did hit the water, light the pool and bounce the reflections about.

No one else on a tour, so ran one just for us, very informative and beautiful caves but all felt a little rushed.
Little expensive but cafe good value.

Maori history interesting (did not see the cultural show as extra money).

Did not acutally stay as did not like the look of it.
Full of 'permanents' we drove on.

Only day walk from Bark Bay to Marahau, again overnight seemed expensive, great walk, easy, few hills, tide times do for Torrent Bay cut a bit off the day.

Closed for stock check in the afternoon we wanted to visit.
Following morning there was a big queue outside at 10am - they were late, no knowledge of climbing (even though mentioned on board outside). Sold us a walk map for $3 - seemed a lot.

Very efficient, fast comfortable boat.
Informative steward, but all felt a little impersonal - quite expensive (despite the Top10 discount). Saw whales, dolphins, seals, albatross so all expected and more.
Kia Ora Jackie and Brian, thanks for your feedback, sorry you felt it a little impersonal that is not our intention at all. We count it a real privilege to be able to go out and see such beautiful marine life off our coastline and our hope is that is portrayed during your time out at sea. We hope you were able to take some great photos of the marine life you were able to see on your tour.

Booked water taxi to Ship Cove collection from Endeavour Inlet, Realised everyone else was going to Motuora Island for one and a half hours then collected and moved on.
Can we change our plan? No problem. Very friendly, knowledgable chap. Great service.

Early weekend ferry (so cheaper at 0730 $18) got to summit and walked rim before too hot, went to Motutapu Island to see the difference.
Lava caves and coastal track back for 4.15 ferry. Rough lava for walking on and coastal regeneration. Good views of Auckland.

Walked Ship Cove to Endeavour Inlet.
Only day walk as had no camping equipment and put off by cost of staying. Good walk through well signposted, lovely regenerating forest and isolated turquiose bays.

Pull in to see seals on beach and rocks below - pups playing, males sizing each other up, Followed by pull in to a waterfall, pups in stream, 2foot away from you, passing and playing and females on rocks
coming very close.

'Map' $3 (seemed a lot), good park to waterfall.
Very pretty, can then cut across (though not shown on map), to summit Mt Isobel 1342m, good track all the way except scree near the summit. Back the same way as van in waterfall carpark. Time taken 4hrs.
