Great place to stay.
Very clean and tidy camp with a lot of amenities. Only negative no closed in dining option, too open to the elements in rough weather.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying there and will come again.

Beautiful spot beside the river which flows from the dam.
We were there in autumn and the colours were magnificent. Trout fishing at your doorstep, the cycle trail is right there too.

This is a stunning place to camp.
When the weather is right the views are amazing. Yes it is $10pp and for limited facilities. We were impressed with and to find a dump station. For those travellers who complain, its quite new and a perfect base for the exploring the region. Where would you be without it.

Smaller campsite than Ash Pit Road - you can walk between the two.
This one is near the road so there is traffic noise when it is busy. There are several areas for camping surrounded by trees which do give shelter. Boat launching is not as easy as the Ash Pit Road site.

Great DOC camp site on the edge of the lake.
We were there over a holiday weekend. There was plenty of space of all of the large groups in tents, caravans and motorhomes. Toilets are vaulted or composting so live with the smell when its busy. Fresh water tap is near the on site wardens caravan. Great value at $5 per night per person.

We have stayed here on a couple of occasions.
Very busy over the summer holidays. Separate area for motorhomes and tents. Great place for family camping. Typical ARC park.

The camp ground was not open when we stayed, however the owners allowed us to stay seeing that we are fully self contained and only needed somewhere to park our 'wheels'.
Lake Heron is a beautiful quiet and secluded place.

Dickeys flat is not really suitable for motorhomes, unless you are small, and its off season.
The camp site has now been more defined and no vehicles are allowed on the site. The car park is not that large.
It is a lovely spot beside the river, swimming and some good tramping around the area.

A beautiful spot above the river.
Plenty of shady trees. Good toilets. Only a few minutes drive to Wanaka. Close to Lake Hawea. Albert Town dairy & Tavern a short walk away. The ground is a little uneven and lots of tree roots.

A wonderful spot on the Lake Edge.
A DOC site which turned out to be free. Toilets. Fresh trout for dinner. Just off Arthurs Pass road, easy access. Flat and level.

A DOC camp off the Milford Road.
Fabulous views of the mountains. Camp beside the river. Several camping spots as you wind your way down through this camp site. Several vaulted toilets scattered through out the site. We awoke to fresh snow on the mountains, it was awesome.

Wonderful camping ground, big sites and lovely grounds.
Spotless facilities. Easy walk to town, which is quaint and beautiful. Visit in the autumn when the autumn colour is out and its simply stunning.

Macetown is a beautiful spot but only accessable by 4WD in the right weather.
Long drop toilets only. We only did a day trip as could not take our motorhome in.

An up and up track, but the views are so worth it.
Simply stunning on a fine day, particularly if there is a little snow around the surrounding mountains. You might even be lucky enough to see a Kea.

Absolutely fabulous beach side camping spot.
Regretfully they no longer allow motorhomes on the beachside, However there are a couple of designated spots that you can camp in, along with the sea view camp site which does not have a sea view and is up the hill a way from the beach. Self contained motorhomes are able to stay in the car park which is handy to the beach. For tent options its awesome. Safe tidal beach, great for fishing and there are a number of walks through the farm park that this camp is in. Not that cheap for only vaulted toilets and a water supply.

This is an awesome campsite which unfortunately is not now available to motorhomes.
There were just 6 motorhome sites on the beach front, well out of the public use area. The camp sites are further up the hill and motorhomes are not allowed there. The new motorhome camp sites are far away from anywhere.
The beach is very tidal but when the tide is in its lovely swimming. Good kayaking area.

A wonderful spot beside the sea.
Take your plastic bag down when the mussel barge comes in and collect fresh mussels. Fish off the wharf. There is a huge tide fall between low and high tide. The camp site is not very level for large vehicles. Beware of high winds.

Short spectacular alpine track to a small pristine mountain lake.
The track is only a short not too grunty climb to the top edge of the lake which is nestled behind the top of the Remarkables. You can go further - the views are amazing. On a clear day Mt Cook is visible in the distance.

Very 'green' clean camp.
Close to town, however very expensive and packed in tightly.

Bonus you can walk to the beach and watch the sunrise.
Very basic facilities.
