Typical urban camp.
Crowded. Showers clean. Good location for end of trip. But if you are starting your trip this would be a good location to come to first to stock up on stuff people are leaving behind, I.e. new tents, new sleeping bags, fishing gear, food, etc.

Lovely camp next to the river, has a big grassy area, nice hike to the lake with great swimming and fishing.
However as soon as the sun gets ready to set look out! The sand flies are Horrible! And then in the morning as you are just waking they come in the millions! 40% deet only works for a for a little while.

Lovely location.
Nice views in the area. Short walk right out of camp down the very steep hill to the lake. We found the lake refreshing and with fish a plenty. We also chose this camp to be able to walk to the vineyards next door and across the road. 4 cellar doors just a skip away. Akarua, Bannock Brae Estate, Remarkable wines and we had a top notch tasting and lunch at Carrick. Camp host was a lovely lady and her very sweet fox terroir "Minnie" who was to hot to move. Host was very willing to help out with wine tasting and tour suggestions. Camp ground is large with lots of grassy space that is difficult to keep green in this dry climate. Facilities could use an upgrade. Nice mellow safe location.

We found two friends in New Zealand, and you will too.
We put our trust in Nick and Rob and without fail they delivered! My husband and I rented the Nexxos for 3 months from Bay of Islands and it was spectacular. The turn key service is unmatched. Over 3 months we saw a lot of the other campervans and we felt bad for them that they did not have the personal service that we had. Some of the other people’s campervans did not even have a map provided! Our campervan was perfect, the compact size was great for the very narrow windy roads of the north island and we had everything we needed. The size was also great for squeezing on to the ferry (less expensive), parking in the city, and easy to drive. The way the front seats rotate is excellent for using space. The bed in the back was great, because who wants to tear down and set up every day. The van had lots of storage space under the bed and in overhead cabinets. When we were out freedom camping we even used the shower and it was great! Everything worked perfect on the Nexxos and we did not have a single problem the entire time. The Itinerary service before and during our trip was very much appreciated. The complementary night’s stay at the B&B on arrival was fun and we had a nice hike, dinner out (Rob’s treat) and lemoncello on the beautiful deck really made us feel welcomed. When on the road they included use of a cell phone, lap top computer, onboard Wifi with 2GB free was very handy and useful. When I say turnkey I am not kidding everything we needed was there; chairs, table, cooking grill, dishes, wine rack, silverware, chef knives etc. An indispensable item was the road and camping atlas and tourism radio, and of course it was waiting for you in the van. The T.V. DVR and movies supplied for the raining days was luxurious. Rapid response to itinerary questions when on the road was very valuable for example, best hot springs to soak in, wine regions to suit our tastes, etc. Thank you Nick and Rob job well done!
Always please to hear form satisfied guests! You were one of the first to take a Nexxo for a spin, and by the sound of it you loved it. Specially when you are able to travel for such an extended period, a bit of luxury is most appreciated, not? Thank you for renting with us,
Cheers, Nick and Rob

This camp is conveniently located between the town center and the beach.
We found the bathrooms and showers clean. 50 cents for 6 mins for a shower. Probably only 20 sites are available for tent or caravans because the rest of the camp is full of pensioners/or weekenders perm trailers with add on structures with lemon trees growing in the "yard".

Just off the lake this location provides a nice area that is cheap mins from queenstown.
The area is old river oxbows so it is reclaimed riverbank that has gravel and rocks. Some areas are flat and sheltered from other campers. It is a short walk to the lake for swimming and a nice track out of the camp for walking or running.

Nice location- walking distance to town and 5 mins to airport for that flight to Stewart island.
Clean showers flat spots and no hassle kind of place. Nice curry take out and liquor store around the corner. If you are passing thru or taking the flight to Stewart island it is well worth the stay. Nice lady recommended a great resturant in be that was excellent!
Thank you Puma for writing the review. Your comments are helpful highlighting our location being central to many facilities. We have not promoted our close proximity to the airport but you are right. In fact we may be the closest accommodation and easy with it being straight along the road.
I apologise for the delay in responding - I've just learned how ro do this tonight! Thank you again and I'm pleased you enjoyed the restaurant! Safe travelling, Wendy.

Very nice woman at front desk that checked us in at 2pm.
She was very pleasant and took the time to patiently place our camper at the site that would have the best wifi service. She gave us a map and explained all the wildlife viewing locations nearby and also a nice running route to take. Very friendly and nice customer service. She gave us 15 mins of free wifi that was nice, you do not see that very often.

We stayed here 2nights.
The train noise was not bad at all it never woke me up. I have had birds be louder and more frustrating than a train now and then. The location is lovely along the river. And an easy pick up & return for wine tasting tours.

Stayed on jan 1st.
Campground is nice but flushing toilet is not working and appeared to not be working for sometime. People were continuing to poo in them and it is piling up. If you are self contained it is best. The river was ver pretty and the bridge fun.

Stayed for 3 days.
Very lovely camp with nice trees and grassy areas. Very close to town bike rental was nice but felt $35 per person per day for bikes was expensive. The bathroom got very busy during peak season and had to wait for a shower. Clean park.

For $5 bucks per camper van donation, this site is awesome.
Beach front or rather ridge overlooking beach with a path to beach. Very lovely little area with nice well kept beach houses nearby. Popular local surf spot. While we were camped there a flying kiwi tour bus pulled up for the night and unloaded about 18 people to pitch tents, so it got pretty busy pretty fast. Bathrooms were nice and it had a shelter area to get out of wind and rain.

Very lovely camp site on the water.
New shower/toilet facility. With powered sites. Nice grass, lovely trees & walking track. Fishing off the dock. Very nice cafe with good food and lovely ladies are next door and they are the people that take your camp registration. We had the seafood basket for dinner and breakfast there too, highly recommended.

Very nice grassy location on the island.
You will need to call on the provided telephone (next to bathroom) to get the gate code for the week. It is set inside a nice park and next to the beach. Very pretty park, locals use it a lot and there is a view of Auckland from the beach and up the hill on the track. You can walk from camp to the bus stop (we took the track) in about 45 mins. We did this when wine tasting. Clean flushing toilets a bar b que and an outside shower for rinsing off sand.
