Stayed in one of the chalets which was very tired and cold (there only appeared to be a single electric heater for the entire place).
The kitchenware was dirty meaning we had to wash everything up before using it.
The mattress was very old as was the bathroom, though the shower was good none the less.
For some reason there was an air raid siren during both nights we stayed, one at 2am and the other at 6am.
However we can see why its good for campervans, the views across the lake were excellent and we didn't find it smelly.

We were lucky as we were situated away from the train/road (not that we considered them that noisy, at least in British terms anyway!) The facilities were good and there are a few good places to eat nearby
(handy if you've been on a wine tour all day!)

Only one truck stop cafe within walking distance which is a bit annoying, as are the showers which are on timers (6mins) and at a fixed temperature (too hot for me and too cold for my wife!
Friendly staff, very convenient for the airport (picking up/dropping off campervans!)
- the only such showers we came across on our trip).
Also a bit noisy as near the main road. Would stay here again though, mainly for its convenience.
Thank you for your review - we now have a brand new petrol station and burgerking right out the front of the park which is perfect for our guests as well as the truck stop. There are also many places close by which do delivery. We are looking at how we can improve on our shower system as we know that this does not work for everyone.

Large campsite, bit like Fort Knox though, with a security fence all the way around without any gates other than the main one - annoying if your walking to the beach/town etc.
Good clean facilities though and close to the beach/zoo/bars etc

Having said that the cafe and staff were excellent as was the non-powered campsite which is nestled in the trees right by the river.
Our second favourite campsite, missed out on first place due to the flies which were abundant and persistent :(
The facilities are brand new and the powered sites (which aren't by the river) are in the process of being renovated.
There are loads of walks directly from the campsite - the two waterfalls walk is definitely worth doing. Shame about the damn flies but a brilliant campsite none the less.

Reasonably large site, with slightly tired facilities.
Very convenient for the springs etc though. The toilets/shower block nearest the cabins is bigger and better than the one in the middle of the campsites

Excellent tour, our guide was superb very knowledgeable and, more importantly, very interesting and friendly.
The Glow worm cave was amazing and, as promised, exclusive. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would happily recommend it to anyone wanting a more intimate tour.

Great stopping off place on your way to/from Milford Sound.
Friendly owner, great showers and a few farm animals to see (e.g. Alpacas)

Nice campsite, bit small and cramped, it was ok for us but could imagine it wouldn't be much fun if they were any busier.
Also would advise against walking into town, it's very hilly!!!

Assuming we ended up at the right place!
It was just a small patch of grass by the bay but overlooked by a number of residential properties. Overall it made us feel uncomfortable so we ended up staying somewhere else.

Lovely campsite nicely situated mid-way along Catlins.
Loads of facilities including a cafe/restaurant which, although expensive, severed high quality meals. Friendly staff.
The menu is very high quality ingredients and made fresh on premise. About the same as a good quality city restaurant. But we have much higher overheads.

By far our favourite campsite, we were so sad we could only stay for one night :( The views were just beyond belief.
You have to trust your sat nav though as it's not signposted, but there is a tap and long drop (that we found a bit too scary to use!) It would be so easy to misjudge the location to be a carpark on the road by the lake - this site is tucked away around the corner and so much nicer!

Friendly staff, good facilities and very convenient for the boat tours.
Lots of insects though :(
