3.5/5
Purpose built site, next door to airport.
Pros:
New and well laid out.
Cheap if you book online
Facilities are good
Cons:
Feels sterile- no character
A bit noisey from planes
Cold in showers and toilets as building is temporary.
For a one night stay to clean the van and get a hot shower, this was ideal. $29 for the night, booked online. Has everything you need.

4.5/5
Stayed here for one night before doing the glacier walk the following day.
Pros
Really well designed site.
Friendly staff.
Best facilities we experienced in a month of motor parks.
Cons
Light went off when showering....
This was a great campsite, would recommend to anyone spending time in Fox Glacier. Well equipped and designed!

4.5/5
Stayed here for a night to enjoy the hot pools and see some of Rotura.
The park itself is really well kept and the facilities were above expectations. The hot pools were good and definitely a nice touch!
Only slight downside was that it is a 30 minute walk into town and there isn't much of anything interesting on the way! I would recommend driving and parking at the big shopping centre instead.

3.5/5
Decent place, out of the way with proper toilets.
The jetty is amazing and the views fantastic.
The major drawback is the lack of a view from the car park.
Would recommend though.

Is right next to the river and is free.
There are some long drop toilets too.
However the access road is shocking- it is drivable in a big camper (we did it) but check it out first. I wouldn't recommend it after a lot of rain either as we slid around a bit too. My advice is to stop at the top of the access road and have a quick look down at the first 100m or so...

4.0/5
Overnight parking for free, right next to shops and bars.
Only downside is feeling a bit insecure being right next to a road.
The superloo is a great feature, though it does close at 4pm. $2 for a shower. I wish all places were as accomodating for campers as Taupo!

4.0/5
Stayed here for one night to recharge the van and ourselves before heading toward the national park.
Pros:
Friendly staff (and pets!)
Cheap for a powered site
Nice sites- tree give a sense of privacy.
The site was immaculate- the cleanest place we have been to without a doubt.
Cons:
The whole place needs renovating, but the owners know this!
I would stay here again, we had a good experience here and enjoyed our stay.
If you do stay here, don't expect top of the range facilities (yet). The owners are really friendly and they keep the place incredibly clean. Enjoy!
Hi Tjw,
Thanks so much for your feedback - Turangi Kiwi Holiday Park is a great place to stay and we know we have some work ahead of us.
We really hope you come back one day and see our progress.

My girlfriend and I rented a 2 berth Euro Tourer for 16 days on the South Island and 10 days on the north island of New Zealand.
Pros
Both vans were finished to a high standard.
Easy to drive.
Comfortable.
Staff were friendly- especially the shuttle drivers.
Great price for the product
Cons;
A couple of small faults- DVD player not working, cigarette lighter didn't work. (We don't smoke but laptop, phones, tourism radio all plug into it!)
Kitchen equipment, particularly the pans and knives were poor. Not unusable, but of poor quality, which made cooking difficult. We bought a decent pan early on.
Credit card fees are a massive drawback, as is the fact that they actually debit the bond from your card.
Overall:
I would hire from Apollo again, the overall experience was fantastic. Some of the previous reviews had me worried, but we had a great time.
A couple of points for Apollo to improve on
The next step for Apollo would be to produce a manual for the vehicles- we watched the show through video several times but it would be nice to have something to refer to.
Take a credit card imprint instead of taking the bond off the card- I know why they do this (earn interest etc). However because of the 2% fees you end up paying a bit more! I knew all this before we hired, so I'm not complaining!
To everyone looking at Apollo hires, remember that you are going to be paying 2% credit card fees on all transactions so budget accordingly. Read all their website- its pretty clear on what you are liable for. The vans we had were of a very high quality and certainly added to our holiday!
Hi Tjw,
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review on Rankers. Im glad that your overall experience with us was a good one and that your were happy with the vehicle. The issues in terms of the DVD and cigarette lighter not working are not typical at all - if you have your booking number and could send it to us I can forward to make sure the vehicle is properly checked. In regards to the other feedback on kitchen equipment- I have forwarded this to our operations team. We do appreciate the feedback from clients as it helps to give us ideas on how to improve the experience our clients have with us. Regarding credit card fees - this is currently something that we are not reviewing but I am glad that you had read through the terms and were aware of them. I hope that we do see you again and please feel free to share with us any other points you may have at customerservice@apollocamper.com.au.
Kind regards

Good access roads make this a must and it is definitely worth the effort of driving off the main road for about 15/20 minutes.
If the weather is nice, get here earlier and enjoy the sunset and the beach!

Stayed here for 2 nights in early July to see QT and do some skiing.
Pros:
Convenient for town.
Cons
Overpriced
Small
Not enough showers.
Didn't enjoy our stay here, found the park to be cramped and was the most expensive one we stayed at. Obviously as freedom camping isn't allowed anywhere near QT then you are a bit stuck!
