This is a funny one....
The area where you stay with your campervan is really not much more than a carpark....
But....there is a lovely garden, with comfortable seats and a really nice indoor area, with comfy couches, a large dining table and a kitchen.
The toilets and shower are very clean and the host is very helpful.

This is a lovely campsite, with a great vibe.
Very friendly staff, brand new toilets/showers and all other facilities available.
And all this in a lovely setting, next to the beach 😊

Avalanche Creek Shelter Campsite

In hindsight I think we would have preferred to stay at Klondyke campsite, as it is in a lovely location.
Avalanche campsite is really just a strip of land between the road and the railway, so not very nice.
On the plus side, there are clean toilets. A large hut with tables/benches, two sinks with running cold water and two sockets to charge your phone.
The visitors centre is also on the campsite, with very helpful staff. And several trails start close to this campsite.

This is a simple campsite in a lovely spot.
Work was underway to build a new 'service station', so during our stay we only had access to a longdrop toilet and drinking water.
But for NZD10/pp, this was really a bargain 🙂
