2.5/5
In terms of facilities like kids playgrounds, kitchen etc this place is as good as the rest.
However, after staying in many campsites in the South Island this year, this place definitely lacks location in terms of any scenery, easy access to beaches, nature etc. It felt like camping in a local neighbourhood. Also, the powered sites are very unpractical for actual tenting as the ground surface is predominantly river stone and getting tent pegs in was extremely difficult. This should have been highlighted online. Finally, my advice to management would be to turn off the Dyson Hand Dryer in the bathrooms for the evening. Being awoken at 2am by a hand dryer does not complement anyones camping experience. This campgrounds high review rating did not at all reconcile with any of our other camping location experiences.
