Stayed here for one night after driving down the forgotten highway on the way to Mt Egmont.
We were the only campervan on the car park amongst maybe 1/2 other cars, no problems, quiet, street lights on car park (no signs to suggest that freedom camping is allowed but I did check the local council district website for any restrictions and this wasn’t highlighted although it does say that the car park is used for workers after 8am). Arrived late around 11pm, no facilities but if SC that won’t be a problem. Lovely aquatic centre over the road for swim/showers for $6 and cute library for wifi. Seemed a fairly nice, friendly and safe neighbourhood.

Lovely park, fairly quiet on the night, stayed 2 nights, Friday night was some loud music but quietened down around 1am, no toilets but some near by.
Ensure vehicle doors are locked, a man didn’t know I was in the van and started banging on it and then tried to open the doors. He was asking for money and my phone. He was there both days. Other campers there so didn’t feel unsafe.

Definitely one of our favourite spots!
Really enjoyed our 1 night stay here. Was 6 campervans in total, we parked on the cliff to the right as was slightly more sheltered from any wind and was no problems at all. Beautiful sunset. Cute dogs came to visit from the houses close by and requested belly rubs. Friendly place and locals, nice black sand beach. Phone signal was good too.
