Not so bad camp spot, quite buggy at top of the camp but nice sheltered centre part with fire.
Not the campsites fault but we met some weird people there.
Toilets weren’t bad though

Beautiful Campsite in a gorgeous spot down by a little stream, loads to do in the area which we loved, the Pinnacles walk is a must and if you get good weather head down to Hoffman pools for a swim and
some rock jumping!
Track and little bumpy but fine, only down sides were that it was pretty mosquitoy and the long drop toilets were kinda gnarly.
Overall beautiful though and would recommend

Best get down here quick if not self contained, only 4 none self contained spots which doesn’t make much sense because all self contained campers use the toilet anyways.
Toilet flooded when we were there and spilt sewage all over the floor. People driving through really late honking horns and speeding.
Shame coz we turned up the day before and saw some really cool looking campers but couldn’t get a spot because it was full.
Worth it for a one night stop probably but not a huge fan.. i suppose it’s free though

Potentially best campsite in New Zealand, unbelievable that it’s free!
HUGE space, plenty of wide open field for lots of campers, plus loads of secret nooks and crannies for a more private spot.
Fire places everywhere, can camp down by the stream but also good spots above.
Recommend definitely having a good look round before pitching up.
Unbelievable that not many people know about this, good spot for wildlife too and not to many bugs.
Hopefully we will be coming back to this one.

Busy busy busy, good for being so close to Taupo and toilets weren’t terrible but it’s a really hectic spot and not the prettiest.
Great for a quick stop and pretty impressive that it’s free

beautiful beach, very clean facilities. Quite a long drive down gravel tracks but well worth it we thought!

Amazing view of the lake!
Cute ducklings out when we went, track is a little bumpy to get down and toilets could do with a clean perhaps but overall very lovely stay. Lots of backpackers and mountain bikers who were friendly.
