Nice freedom camping stop.
Three official places . As people have said it’s at a nice park and cricket field with toilet close by and two other toilets about 300 metres away. Far from Nelson (actually in Stoke) but you can catch a bus for $4. 12 other

Nice campervan site and very friendly and helpful staff.
Good places to go for walks and of course if nature allows (it didn’t on this occasion😢😢) you can visit the glacier!

Nice site close to the beach.
It was quiet when we were there . First week in December but I suspect it gets very busy later. Large kitchen facilities and good showers.

Yes the welcome was a bit grumpy.
We turned up at 1.30. No we didn’t know check in was 2.00 and a simple explanation would have sufficed 🤬. However it is a nice site with reasonable facilities and a couple of benches with nice views. Short drive into town past the lamas!
