What a wonderful find !
My wife and I could have spent two days wondering through the four aircraft hangars, that make up this museum at Wanaka Airport. At NZD 12 each in April 2012, it is great value for money. Despite it being tagged as a museum, it is more of a collection, but this is part of its charm. From Smurfs, Barbie dolls, doll houses, salt and pepper shakers, highly unusual Jim Bean bottles, meccano, pedal cars, cars, bikes, lawn mowers, Seagull outboard motors, the list goes on and on. Truly wonderful and worth a visit.

Although immaculate and interesting, it was not value for money and the collection is quite small compared to others we visited, like the Toy and Transport Museum in Wanaka

My wife and I hired a two sleeper from NZ Frontiers for 23 nights, from late March into April.
I must say that we have never experienced customer service, anywhere in the world, like we did from Kenrick Mitchell. From the time we first made the enquiry in October 2011, his responses were prompt, helpful, insightful and often with a little humour in them. On arrival in Auckland he was at the airport to meet us and took his time in giving us a thorough briefing on the workings of the van and the road rules in New Zealand. Everything promised on the website was in the van, which was spotless. Despite having high mileage, the van ran faultlessly and we achieved close on 10km to the litre over the 5500km we did. Our discounted Interislander Ferry bookings done through Kenrick went without a hitch. We did experience a problem with the skylight and table locking mechanisms about two weeks into the trip, as well as the TV aerial, but it did not spoil our trip in any way. We have hired two sleeper motorhomes in Europe a number of times, from DRM, and like the extended chassis with the permanent bed, the huge amount of storage space, the permanent eating nook and swivelling front seats, as well as their sliding blinds (rather than curtains) on the windows and particularly the windscreen, which together with the swivelling front seats give an extended and practical living area at night. This style does not appear to be favoured in New Zealand and if you are used to it, you may be a little dissapointed by the limited storage and living space of the two sleeper. We highly recommend New Zealand and doing it by campervan and you will not find a better and more personal service than New Zealand Frontiers.

Combined with trip to Orakei Korako thermals.
Great informative 45km boat trip to the thermals, where we were dropped off for an hour to walk around, then an exhilarating boat ride back, full of 360's and nose skims. Great value for money and highly recommended.

Stunning view, but walking access to waterfront long and steep and facilities were poor.

Campervan site - compact, but great bathroom facilities, interesting decor throughout the sites and within easy walking distance of town, the gondola and supermarket.
Dump station not in the best position.

My wife and I hired Harleys for a day, to tour the Coromandel.
Ali was a star leading up to the trip and very accommodating, as we had a tight travel schedule. On the day, bikes were ready when we arrived, decent helmets, gloves and jackets were available. The bikes ran faultlessly and we had great weather. The Coromandel loop is some 260km of winding, ascending and descending, good quality road, with spectacular scenery. An added bonus was that the annual Beach Hop was on and and on our way down from Whitianga in the afternoon, we passed a huge number of pristine cars from the 50s and 60s travelling towards us. After returning the bikes, Baz and Ali invited us to share a drink with them on the back patio, a great end to a fantastic and memorable day. Thanks guys, we won't hesitate to recommend you !
