Really beautiful view from the camp.
Paid cash $10 per person. The longdrop toilet was clean and surprisingly not smelly. Water is not potable. We went kayaking from a beach near this campsite, highly recommended!

We came here after seeing the beachside freedom camp is full.
Lots of space for cars, toilets are in ok condition. We felt safe because there were lots of other campers when we were there. There is tap water available outside of the library. There is also washing machine and dryer available, but we were told by another campers that the dryer didn’t work when we were there. We heard some shouting at night (we were there on a Friday night) but didn’t last long. Must vacate at 7am.

We had a nice stay here.
Got free warm muffins when we arrived which was much appreciated in a rainy day. Toilets and shower are clean, kitchen is functional. You could borrow pans etc from the reception.

Nice site to stay over facing the river.
Clean toilet and shower. Spacious kitchen with utensils, pots and pans etc. Staying here so it’s handy to go do whitewater rafting, the office is right next door from the site. Highly recommended!

It’s a bit of a hassle to get here but the views along the way were breathtaking!
The site is facing the water, with clean flushable toilet. Beautiful sunrise. $15 per person.

A nice, quiet carpark (on a Wed), can fit max 20 cars.
The freecamp space is clearly marked in yellow. There were 10 of us when we camped there, so plenty of space for everyone. Felt safe the whole time. Really clean toilets nearby.

Great campsite.
Toilets and showers are really clean. Free unlimited shower, water pressure was great. Well-equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook: pans, tongs, ladles, etc. Also have toaster, oven, pressure cooker. We had a great stay.

Ok for a night’s stay.
We had a quiet night on a weekday. 2 free toilets open all night, but they don’t have toilet seat, only the rubber thing around the rim so it feels gross. Lots of restaurants and bar around the area since it’s right in the middle of the city.

Had a nice stay at Donegal House.
Easy check-in process, we just popped by the bar and paid $20 for a powered site. The bathroom and toilets are clean. Cold shower is free, hot shower is $4 ($2 coins only). Good option to stay if your campervan is not “self-contained” according to Kaikoura’s standard! Great beer too.

2 very clean toilets that are cleaned 2x a day + an outside shower.
Lots of space, many cars can stay here. The location is right by the beach. It was rainy and quite stormy when we were there, we woke up a few times because of the wind howling.

We came here after visiting Hobbiton, arrived at around 7pm and could easily got a place for our car.
Clean toilet, quiet night despite of proximity to the road.
