Great spot, amazing views and a nice walking track by the lake.
Lots of space for many campers. However, it was very very windy at night. I’d recommend getting there early to get a lower down spot! Toilets are clean, no drinking water.

Amazing spot, cheaper than anywhere else in Franz.
Lovely secluded pitches. Powered sites were already full when we got there, but loads of unpowered. WiFi was good. Kitchen a bit small and basic but a great spot.

Great spot on the river.
$45 for 2 people for 1 night powered site. Nice kitchen and lounge area. Nice showers but $2 for warm ones.

It’s $10 per person per night for a great spot only 10 minutes outside of Wanaka.
It’s well kept, toilets are clean. Lots of space so don’t worry about not getting a spot. Very easy to pay on site by cash or card, lovely spot next to the river. No drinking water.

DO NOT CAMP HERE!!!
Only campervan in the car park all night. We felt very unsafe. Cars kept driving into the car park, music blaring, headlights pointed at us, hang around for 10 minutes and then drive off, all night from about 9pm - 5am. Two even treated us to doing donuts at 4am around our van. Save yourself the hassle and park behind the tourist information for free instead. It’s a shame as Matamata is a very lovely town, but it spoiled our experience.
