Stayed here last weekend in September and there was only a couple of vans here.
Very basic drop toilet and facilities and was very dark. As two females we perhaps felt a bit uneasy because of isolation, no phone signal, and dogs barking on nearby farms but was all okay and enjoyed the birdsong and sounds of the river in the morning. Be aware the road from this camp in the new Plymouth direction is very poor and is a gravel track for a good part of the way.

On a main road but there was little noise at night.
Good supply of drinking water and decent toilets but no bins. Nice picnic area by the water across the road and easy walk to the town and nice walk over to coopers beach. A convenient spot on the road up north.

Nice camp on the lake w pleasant views and lovely for an evening swim.
Basic toilet and no water but there is drinking water and rubbish at boyes beach a few minutes drive away. Ranger came round and checked bookings/passes at around 7:30. Nice ranger - loved a natter and was great vibes! Well located for lakes and Tarawera trail.

About 5/6 free camping spots within a larger car park with toilets at the far end.
Toilets were clean and there is a tap for drinking water. There was loud music playing at night but it keeps its high rating because the amazing beach views in the morning!
