Battle Hill is a wonderfully maintained campground that we've to tent camping a few times over the last three seasons.
It has clean bathroom facilities (though only one block close to camp area, so limited when busy!) a swimming area, and the kids (and adults) can feed the eels. There are great walks straight out of the camp ground, over a variety of terrain. The camp ground has plenty of space and lots of separated areas, so you can be close or far away from people as you prefer.
The most significant negative of the site is road noise. The camp ground is both very close to the Paekakariki Hill Rd, which people treat like a race track, and the sound of Transmission Gully traffic carries down the valley in still conditions. The ducks are very pushy. Much of the ground is hard on tent pegs due to stones under the grass surface. Bring spares!
