Beautiful walk with amazing views, birds, and stunning coastline.
Starts and ends 15 mins along the beach clearly signposted to turn left up the cliffs by holiday homes. Lots of steps to tackle on either end of walk but steeper coming back down to the beach from cliff . Middle is a lovely pathway with amazing views. Important to get tides right if doing the loop - download NZ tides App. We had to climb a bit to avoid water on very first part of return beach walk although tide had been dropping for three hours so don’t know if that’s normal. Dry feet tho after that. Beach walk is initially rocky and needs care. We are two 58 year olds of moderate fitness.

Loved this campsite.
Waterside pitches for a small extra fee. Accessibility obviously important as all bathrooms accessible to all. Best showers yet. Small issue with laundry quickly remedied by smiling office staff who were genuinely happy to help. 5 mins walk from Farewell Spit tour office.

Not a fan of big sites and this one was as expected.
Pros - beachside location, nice bar, big shop. Cons - pitches on top of each other (but not noisy), showers were dirty, cold and timed. There are a couple of sites just down the road which are smaller and more chill but if you want all singing all dancing or have children with you this would be a good option.

Enjoyed our stay here.
Spacious relaxed site with lots of little extras like table tennis, decking area, yoga. During our stay there was no yoga or food lorry but we soon got over that when we realised it is THE start of the coastal trail and instead of getting the bigger water taxis we could get a small one from 15 minutes up the road with a quirk's ‘boat ride’ tows by a tractor to the slipway. Lots of reviews spare the showers but they are excellent, spacious bathrooms with hot powerful showers. It may have just been us but we failed to find our way to the beach directly from the site as it seemed permanently cut off by channels of water left by the tide but there is access about 15/20 minutes walk away and we preferred the quiet beach to Kaiteriteri. At the start/end of the trail is a great bar/restaurant with beautiful views and good food choices. Note no dump at this site and water is not potable but shop sells water if you are not prepared.
