Genuinely amazing showers in the Teal block.
But toilets only cleaned once a day, and one cubicle horrific for nearly 24 hrs as a result, and a fellow male camper cheerfully walked into the ladies instead which seemed pretty disrespectful. Good shop. Amazing location by the beach. But limited security - anyone could wander in from the boardwalk. Also not near the flight path - but literally adjacent to the runway. So fine for a quick stop en route somewhere but not an extended stay. EDIT - have upped my score after further experiences. Fact that toothbrushing sinks are separated from lavatories is immensely civilised and should be widely copied. And compared to some other places you can be pretty relaxed and comfortable booking into here.

Booked online but absolutely rammed and if I hadn’t arrived early I’d have been out of luck.
No attendant/host despite heavy traffic, and utterly disgusting toilets. Compared with the other high profile/traffic DOC at Totaranui this is a fairly awful place, and disgraceful for such a jewel in the crown as Mt Cook imo. Three gents toilets plus two unisex (and three womens also I assume) for the entire camp and all hikers. Curtailing my stay and heading back to civilisation early.

Old fashioned brilliance.
A beautiful spot by the beach with ample clean facilities; all vintage but charming and homely and excellent value. A highlight of my west coast journey.

Beautiful!
A lovely and immaculately clean park. I wish every camp in NZ was as well kept as this. A true delight.

Pretty cool looking place.
Kitchen a bit beaten up, though (with all symbols on the oven worn away) and road quite noisy. Wouldn’t stay for more than a day. But acceptable for a night.
