Ok spot but just a car park really.
Short walk to toilets (overnight ones are down towards the marina) and shops, as well as the waterfront. There is a laundromat machine. If you can, try for the other freedom camping spot in town which backs onto a nice grassy area and is closer to the water.

Beautiful freedom camping spot- lovely lake views and a nice 6km track to walk around it.
Drop toilets are fairly clean, but no drinking water available at this site.

No signage and right next to the highway. Much better off driving on to the national army museum car park in Waiouru.
