Full day hike.
Excellent guide - funny and informative. Sometimes felt we could have moved on a little faster but if you want to stretch your legs with a 5 hour walk, look no further. Have wondered about the 1/2 day hike - but you would not see as much. If you just want to say you have walked on a glacier do the 1/2 day.

Tent site, only 300m outside the town centre.
Facilities (kitchen, toilets, showers) all well kept. Train will wake you up.
Hi there Andrew and thanks for taking the time to give us this feedback. As you mentioned our central location - only a 300 metre walk into town is a trade off for being close to the train station. We try to minimise any noise as best we can but thanks for your feedback.

Paid for a room as we arrived late off the ferry and did not want to put up a tent at 10pm with jet lag and having been driving since 10am.
Basic room, did a job, good shower facilities - train will wake you up.

National Kiwi Centre

Bit disappointing.
Only 2 kiwi in the centre and a lot of other animals, mostly aquatic. We did get to feed and touch giant eels, just did not see much of the kiwi. Expected more for the $18.50. If we had not stayed for the eel feeding we would have felt ripped off, instead we just thought it was expensive.

Awesome trip for anyone who wants to swim with dolphins.
All you need are some sea sickness pills as all equipment is provided. Helps if you have snorkelled before. Little on the pricey side, but where else in the world can you do this???
