We freedom camped here for one night with no problems (toilets 3 mins down the road and a little stinky).
Lots of people around as it was Saturday (likely an event in the building across the road). Woke up to tons of rowers getting ready all smiles and fun music playing. We felt like we were invading their space so we cooked breakfast elsewhere. We feel lucky the community is willing to share such a lovely spot with travellers :)
Parking here is really confusing because there is no signage anywhere. The Porirua City website says 3 motorhomes are allowed in this location for up to 3 nights, but there are no designated spots.

Small park so you get cozy with neighbours.
They have hot tubs at no extra charge! Big kitchen but no scrubbers or towels (not sure if this added to people not cleaning up after themselves as the kitchen got quiet dirty by morning). Clean toilets and hot showers

Super friendly host!
Clean and up to date facilities (50c for a shower but well worth it hot water and enough time to fully clean). Kitchen well stocked with pots, plates, and cutlery. Also a large communal room with TV, pool table and ping pong. Wifi near the office but dies out pretty quick.

Lovely spot overlooking the water.
Lots of spaces there is a sign showing two very general areas where you can freedom camp. Toilets are basic. Got off the ferry late and went straight here.

Space for about 20-25 campers.
Toilets a short walk away (which is good they are quiet smelly) and not the cleanest we have found. Pretty quiet area not much traffic

Nice to have somewhere so close to the City.
Lots of spaces but they fill up fast. Really frustrated as we woke up to a ticket stating we are not self contained certified when we have all the correct paperwork and the sticker on full display… no one else around seemed to have tickets.

Nice and quiet spot with clean toilets.
Probably room for about 10-15 vans. This location is the start of a number of nice walks and good mountain biking trails. (lots of sandflies)

Beautiful spot right on the beach.
Toilets about 3-5min walk. Must be out by 7am (just in time to catch sunrise).

Such a great place for an overnight.
10 spots for campers (clearly marked by orange sticks). Clean flush toilets, garbage bins and even soap at each sink!
