Lovely little spot.
Some sites closer to the road than others but there were plenty to choose from. Flushing toilets were clean, plenty of taps for water (boil it first though).
A few sandflies but a good repellent works well. Lots of birds, beware of kea damage to your vehicle overnight. They didn't bother us during daylight hours but the wipers did get chewed overnight.
A bit more $ than other DOC sites, was $15/adult for us.
Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Kitchen, bathroom and shower facilities were excellent.
Clean and well maintained. Parking bays also well maintained, and you can book ahead to reserve a spot. No problem with walk-ins either, the only drawback is the limited office hours if you need to pay with a card.
Penguins appear at night, and it's only a short walk to the colony or to the Oamaru main street.
Lovely, welcoming and would stay again.

Plenty of space, didn't seem to have access to a toilet.
A bit noisy next to the major road, but no real issues. Nice free spot to stay.

Aptly named, a lovely spot.
Flushing toilets were clean, plenty of space for campers. Nice short walking track beside the river, too.
Not too expensive, but no bigger sinks either. Minimal road noise, just a generally lovely spot.

Bzzzzzt.
Mayflies.
All the mayflies.
Seriously, there are mayflies.
They're not annoying until they're annoying, which is immediately. They don't bite, but they do make the sound of a thousand crazy chainsaws as you're trying to sleep.
In terms of facilities, plenty of space here for campers, a big grassy area with decent toilets (albeit full of mayflies). Also a big sink (full of mayflies) and a shower (cold and mayfly only).
Lovely spot, would stay again, but not in mayfly season ;)
