Beautiful location set amongst native forest.
The Manager let us choose our site since there were hardly any other campervans at the time. Good facilities and free hot showers.

Beautiful quiet location, one of the few doc campgrounds that is dog friendly.
Was virtually empty even though it was school holidays. Note the 3 powered sites are a bit far from the toilet and other facilities; involves a walk across a small river ford which floods if there has been a lot of rain

Really nice location on the water and convenient for first day out of Auckland.
Clean toilets. Lots of campervans parked outside the designated overnight spots but everyone told us it was okay

We stayed here when it was pouring rain all day.
While we couldn’t take advantage of the activities in Hihi Beach, we appreciated the warm welcome and refuge from the storm. Great facilities and dog friendly. We will be back in fairer weather!

Absolutely gorgeous spot right on the beach.
Not crowded despite it being school holidays. We had planned to stay only one night but extended to 2. We really enjoyed the night bush walk to see the glow worms!
