We tried to stay a night but it was jam packed with hundreds of students having rowing races over the weekend.
Apparently it is quite common to have events here, so have a backup plan in case. Can't comment on the facilities as we didn't stay the night, the lake is stunning though

A decent holiday park with clean facilities, but the playground is quite small and tired.
I feel it is overpriced compared to what is offered (even within Taupo which feels more expensive than the other places we visited in NZ)

Super affordable place (at $38 for a powered site for 2 adults and 2 small kids it was half the price of our next cheapest campsite during our NZ trip) and easily up to the standards elsewhere.
You also get to use the youth hostel's well-equiped kitchen and shared facilities which was a godsend when it rained

This place was the highlight of our trip for the kids!
The facilities are off the charts (huge heated pool with swim-up bar, with large screen showings of Disney movies every afternoon that you can watch from inside the pool, huge waterslides, 2 bouncy pillows and an ok playground), which made it worthwhile for us to pay more than the usual price for a powered site. Absolutely recommend it

Place was clean and plenty of showers and toilets to handle the large group of people who were there at the same time as us for a sporting event nearby.
Facilities for kids were a bit limited as the playground was small (a single swing and a climby thing) although the jumping pillow was nice)

A great spot for kids with a sophisticated bouncy castle an indoor pool and a large playground (not to mention the dinosaurs everywhere).
We ended up paying $88 per night for 2 adults plus 2 small kids
