We stayed at this campsite 2 years ago when we last visited New Zealand.
Excellent spacious campsite with plenty of facilities. This time we stayed we had a mechanical problem with the engine on the motor home. The owners of the site lent us their tool box and gave us various nuts and bolts to fix the problem.

The site is walking distance from the town centre.
The powered sites all have their own tables and chairs and have some privacy. The bar/restaurant on site was packed full of young people staying in the chalets the night we stayed.

We think it is always fully booked during January and February. Very big campsite right by the sea. Two bars/restaurants nearby.

Excellent Top 10 site close to the centre of town. When full the sites can be on top of one another with not enough showers and toilets.

We went around the north and south island 2 years ago when we last visited New Zealand.
This was and still is our favourite campsite. The Collingwood Tavern across the road serves good food. The campsite is on the estuary with plenty of fishing right outside your van. The facilities on the site are excellent.

Getting there - As you come into Greymouth from the south there is a Challenge Petrol Station on your right.
Drive through the petrol station and up a slope. The park (just a tarmac enclosure with some cars parked there) is behind the petrol station. Just hook up to the electric.There are a few clean toilets and showers. There are also washing machines. A chain is pulled across the entrance and locked at night. A very polite, helpful gentleman unlocks the chain at about 8 o'clock in the morning and takes the cash. It cost us $20 for a powered motorhome site for 2 adults.
This site is only about 200m from the town centre and we heard no noise during the night.
Recommended if you want to go into Greymouth for a meal and or drink at night
Monteiths Brewery is 200M away with a range of tours an drinks to Sample if you wish bookings advised

Less than half of them were occupied when we visited. Kitchens and showers clean, could be a problem if the site was full.

Only stayed here for 1 hour.
There only appeared to be 1 shower. A couple of toilets each for men and women. Very basic. A few semi-permanent residents, and a small field for campers with electric. On the positive side, if you walk through the sand dunes the beach and estuary are fantastic

A bus or taxi ride out of town. Supermarket, bar/tavern and takeaways near by. Good facilities for children and excellent cooking facilities. Parking for campervans very close together.

Owners very friendly and helpful.
The owner came around checking the kitchens etc twice during the evening. Clean showers and well equipped kitchens. 5 minute walk to sea and estuary. We could see why this was an award winning site.

We booked everything by email from England.
We booked everything by email from England. Everything was ready when we arrived to pick up the van. The instructions we got from Richard, the owner, on how to use the van were excellent.
We hired a toyota coaster motorhome for 31 days. It was fantastic. Very easy to drive and equiped with everything you needed.We travelled around the north and south islands, going across on the ferry which was very easy. My wife and I took our 6 foot 25 year old son with us. There was plenty of room for him to sleep at the front of the motorhome. The best thing about the toyota coaster was that it different than all the other white campervans going round New Zealand and had plenty of room.
We booked the ferries in advance but did not need to book any of the campsites as there was plenty of space. We finished travelling on the 13th December. You would probably have to book the campsites if you went later in the year.
We can highly recommend this company. Everything they did was perfect. We also recommend you hire the toyota coaster, it was brilliant.
