Great campground with good amenities.
The kitchen is really well equipped, with ovens and a lot of cooking space. The toilets and showers are very clean. There's also a hairdryer, which was useful. The staff is really nice. Even though we arrived half an our after reception closing time, the person was still there so he took the time to give us some explanation about the place. We definitely recommend this campground.

We found this spot after looking for quite a while for freedom camping.
We were a bit late (7 PM) and could only find horrible sites. Then we found this gem. It only costs 20$ for 2 people. There's is plenty of spaces (and there were only a dozen campervans when we stayed). The car park is set in nature next to a beautiful big pond with loads of ducks and birds.
There's an Irish pub & restaurant, which unfortunately was closed for restoration work the day we were there. But we would have loved to try it! We found the place had a great vibe to it.
Host was welcoming, toilets were clean. There are showers (free for cold and paid for hot).
We'll definitely come back here if we're in the area again !

It's basic but there's quite a lot of spaces so it's good if you arrive a bit later and couldn't find a spot higher up on the coast (as those have very limited spaces).
This states 5 sites but actually has much more. The only restriction is to stay in some areas defined on a board at the entrance (blue zones). Toilet are basic but were ok and not too far from the park area. Good for a night before taking the ferry in Wellington.
