This place has no competition in the area and it shows.
Facilities are clean but to few for that many campers, especially the kitchen area is swamped all times of the day. Showers run on a 6 minute timer but you need every second as water pressure is non existent but mostly the campsite is not suited for the surroundings. Lake tekapo is a windy area and the campground has no to little greenery blocking the wind. Direct access to the lake is great though.

This campsite is fun.
Love the train theme. Facilities could be cleaner but are more than sufficient. Owner is a bit chatty but that's a matter of preference. Would recommend staying here.

Nice place, clean toilets, good facilities and the owners understood the need for and facilitated in finding a good spot for our little tent due to the harsh winds when we were there.
Visited one night, lots of long stay older people. Rakaia gorge tramping track starts right across the bridge from the campground. Big plus

Hot damn these are the best campsite showers I've encountered whilst camping ever.
Nice staff, super clean and nice grassy spots for setting up a tent. Fully stocked kitchen with stoves and hot drinking water. Good information about the area and walks to be done around mt. Cook

The combination between the golf course and camping seems a little odd at first but the people here are super nice!
Got there whilst there was a tournament going on but after a quick call to the keeper got to set up our tent a little out of the golf course way on a nice grassy spot. Was only one other long term camper there. Showers are $2,- for hot water and appear not to be on a timer. Very clean as well. Nice little camper kitchen with stove and a bar (if it's open). Would definitely recommend staying here. Cannot beat the price of $10,- a person either

The views here are the picture of beauty.
Nice spacious grassy spots under the trees for tents. Long drop toilets are sufficiently clean. Would recommend this campsite over all the other DOCs along the Milford route

The gravel road to get here is rough.
6km with lots of loose gravel and deep potholes. When you get there however the campsite is very serene and quite. The river drowns out the noise of the road. Very clean toilet when we got there during the day. Just lots and lots and lots of sandflies.

Real nice clean camping with flush toilets and nice grassy spots to set up a tent.
It is quite small and seemed very popular so be on time. We got one of the last available spots arriving at 6pm. Great base for discovering the Catlins area. Gas pump up front if your low on gas and even a campsite store that has everything you might need. 10/10 would recommend staying here.

Clean campsite with a great free(!) hot shower.
Laundry is 2x$2,- for washer and same for dryer. Lots of long term campers. The owner was very nice and got lots of coins to trade for the washer. Fully stocked kitchen with lots op cookers, fridge and hot water. Great layover stop.
