Quite a crowded site with people walking all over each others pitches, walking underneath the rear door of our camper van constantly.
Toilets were fairly clean, water pressure changed depending on how many others were using the showers at the same time. Not the best site but location is good, close to the centre and the lake.

Incredible views from the campsite, parking is a little uneven but didn’t bother us.
The best spots get taken fairly early but there is plenty of space so getting a spot isn’t a worry. Toilets were clean but a 5 min walk from the best spots with the best views.

Great place to stay for the night, very quiet and peaceful.
Great views at dusk and sunrise. Has toilets and two large sinks to wash up from dinner

Great spot, spent 2 nights here.
Marked bays for each camper, close to the beach with great sunsets. Only 1 toilet so there can be a queue, but it was clean. Wekas hopping in and out of vans so hold on tight to your food

Great spot for the night.
There weren’t too many marked spots maybe 15 but there were at least 30 campers when we were there so doesn’t appear to be checked (not a complaint think it’s great people are allowed to stay), felt very safe. Toilets were clean and there were bins near the toilets.

Very overcrowded, cars and vans were parked everywhere.
Cars were blocking in other users which wouldn’t be great in an emergency. Make sure you get there early to grab a spot it was very busy. There was ‘security’ at the gate but don’t think this was to police the numbers of people coming in. There were portaloos on site, not the toilets in the pictures.

Great place to stay.
We arrived around 19:30 and there were a couple of spaces left. Toilets are clean and is just a short walk to a great little beach and great views of the bay. Security come round at night and check number plates for the number of stays in a calendar month. Feels safe!

10/10 for the views, it’s very quiet and peaceful up there with incredible views of mountain.
The score is only reduced because of the toilets, probably some of the worst we’ve experienced in New Zealand. The whole car park is on gravel which was quite loose in some places so watch out.

Nice place to stay next to Dawson falls, lots of campers when we were there so it made it feel safer.
A few boy racers turned up in the night with full beams on and revving engines which lasted around half an hour.
