Noisy guests out in the bbq area partying until late - large group of them, possibly some sort of party.
Woken at 7.30 by noise again at the bbq area.
WiFi doesn’t work at the campsite, just near reception.
Showers don’t have doors, just curtains.
Bathroom is not clean, big spiders and webs over ceiling.
Laundry isn’t the best, paid $3 for tumble drier and barely dried the clothes - we didn’t risk paying another $3 for it not to work again. Also $3 for washing machine.
Good location as the only one in the city and close-ish to Eden park, but is very grubby and not worth the money. $50 a night for powered site for 2 adults.
The kitchen hobs are super slower, need to turn them on at least 20 mins before you want to start cooking.
We were booked for two nights as had an event in the city, if we didn’t have the event we wouldn’t have stayed.

Stayed here purely for location, it was a 25 minute walk to town or a $12 for an uber.
Didn’t feel very friendly or personal, facilities are ok! A little dated and not the cleanest but did the job. Quite expensive compared to other parks with better facilities.

Greta freedom camp spot.
Toilets, water and dump available. There is even a shore power lead if you needed electric! A short walk to a corner shop and chippy. Very quiet and a short walk over the dunes to a lovely Sandy beach.

Lovely spot, friendly and helpful host, no WiFi/signal at all which to our surprise was very nice.
Probably one of our fave campsites so far!

We called in here about 5pm when we noticed all freedom camps in the area were packed.
Charlie was so friendly and helpful, checked us in straight away and gave us a tour. We didn’t play but loved that the lounge had a free pool table! The town is a couple of minutes away and plenty there. Extremely good WiFi. Very clean. If in the area again we would certainly return.

Great spot, short drive to town (although not a lot to do there) and good facilities despite the men’s shower room having works done so having to use the ladies.
The toilets and shower rooms are separate so slightly inconvenient. Friendly reception staff.

Great spot right on the beach.
Plenty of spaces. Picnic benches on beachfront. Toilet ok, door is hard to close and lock, also no soap. Road was busy with trucks but luckily didn’t keep us awake.

This is no longer a freedom camping spot - the car park is full of signs that say no overnight camping/caravans allowed.
There were lots of campers there but we chose not to stay to avoid getting kicked out in middle of night. We have heard that car parks across the country are being patrolled by local councils at the minute so was not worth the risk to stay.

Stayed two nights purely as lots to do in Napier.
As a brit, would say this is very similar to Butlins. Very loud, lots of kids, facilities ok but deposits required for everything whether using a deck of cards($10deposit) or wanting to watch tv ($50deposit). Showers are a pain as they shut off constantly probs every 30 seconds. Quite noisy at night, music and singing, perhaps drunk guests. Expensive compared to other places.

Fiona very friendly.
$44 for two on a powered site. Very basic amenities, toilets and showers did not feel clean, no soap to wash hands. Very close to town just a short walk which was why we stayed here, a nice local pub called the judge was fantastic for a few drinks.

Nice quiet and safe spot.
No toilets on site, they are a few minutes walk towards the high street. We are SC but no one checked or knocked. Would stay again.

Nice spot, very windy but could imagine in summer weather it would be lovely.
No toilets so we drove to the next beach front car park (we’re not lazy - due to awful weather) where there was some and this was also a freedom camp spot which is not advertised on this app. Would recommend this one over the other purely as it has the toilets.

Nice grass pitch, slight slope.
Nice and quiet, toilets and showers are good, a little grubby (but certainly not the worse we’ve seen) and could do with paper towels and hair dryers (a hairdryer was only available in the block at top of park), due to size of park a bigger shower block at bottom would be needed, luckily we stayed on a quiet night so queuing was not an issue. Would stay again.

Good spot for a free nights camping.
Right next to town so lovely to go out for dinner and drinks and still be near the van. No toilets. We stayed on a Saturday night and the car park did get very loud with cars/music after 1am which kept me up most the night. Right next to a school so wouldn’t ideally want to stay here on a weeknight.

Lovely stay here.
Receptionist very friendly. Hired bikes and cycled the sea wall and stopped off at the pub on way back. Facilities very good. Grass pitches were a big boggy in the morning after a night of heavy rain. A couple of drunks singing and being noisy in bathroom was unnerving.

Nice spot, stayed two nights.
Quite far from town, a very hilly 45 minute walk or $16 ish Uber. Good facilities, very clean and nice to have a proper hairdryer!

Nice location, stayed two nights in the end.
Car park is not very flat so be mindful where you park as the first night on a slope was not comfortable. Got up to watch the dam gates at 10am but nothing happened that day. The next day we were woken at 5.30 to a helicopter dropping mercury into the river. Very cool to see despite being very noisy. A quiet area with the odd truck racing by. Nice to be near the falls. Drop toilet not pleasant but if self contained it’s not an issue.

Plenty of space as long as others park sensibly.
Very nice beach. Toilets ok, no soap but this seems to be common in most public car parks. Lots of rubbish at the bins which hadn’t been emptied. Remember mossie spray and lots of mossies here! Dump station which was useful. If more to do in the area we probably would have stayed longer, however it’s quite far out the way and nothing locally to do other than beach.
